Last year the tickets came as part of the Icelandair Package that included filgihts, accomodation, a few optional 'special' events (blue lagoon, goldern circle) and ofc Fanfest Tickets. I'd also suggest you get the transfer bus (£20) from the airport as its about an hours drive (unless you have a small fortune for the Taxi fare).

If you go for just flights & accomodation I think you're looking at around £400, the events were about £50-£100 each IIRC. Tickets (from 2009 and IIRC again) were about £70.

Don't forget food and booze on top of all of that and be aware its more expensive in Iceland than in the UK.

Hope that helps slightly.

It does thank you.

If you hold the main event in the Eldborg Main Hall and hang caldari and amarr banners all over the place (no minmatar or gallente please) I seriously need to book a flight.

What's the duty free allowance in Iceland?

How much cognac can I pack into a suitcase otherwise populated by 5 pairs of socks, a toothbrush and a spare T-shirt?

How much booze you can pack depends entirely on whether the two lonely gentlemen just chilling out that you walk past once you get your baggage we call "customs" decide they care. I've seen one dude fined for one bottle over the limit and watched people roll out cases of beer and liquor. There is no line from a line perspective.

First fanfest I had a backpack full of heavy Belgian beer (6-9 large 750 ml bottles). I chose a a hippy in sandals with dreads and a bigger backpack to walk behind. While I clincked and chinged my way through customs, they made the hippy come to them and I walked on trough....

When you arrive in KEF, there is a Duty Free shop on arrival, there you have poster telling you what are the alcohol limit you can bring into Iceland. And it's somethin like: 6L of beer+1strong alcohol bottle or 3L of wine or 1.5 L of strong alcohol but my memory can be wrong...

Can't wait to be there !!!!

According to the official site you can import duty free:

  • 1 liter spirits and 1 liter wine and 6 liters beer OR
  • 3 liters wine and 6 liters beer OR
  • 1 liter spirits and 9 liters beer OR
  • 1,5 liter wine and 9 liters beer OR
  • 12 liters beer.

Spirits comprise alcoholic beverages containing more than 21 percent alcohol;
Wines comprise alcoholic beverages, other than beer, containing 21 percent alcohol or less.

12 litres of beer sounds heavy to carry, and who the hell buys wine in a litre? Wine bottles are 750ml.

I wonder if 4 bottles of wine and a litre bottle of spirits would work?

Maybe its different where you guys live, but in Iceland they have these crazy houses that you can walk into all day and most of the night where you can pay money and they will actually give you alcohol, its CRAZY!

there, i stopped you all from having to bring warm beer over on the plane

Well may be, but when you stay 1 week in an appartement in Iceland, beleive me you don't spend your whole night&day in bars/pubs/whatever, especially when you have a pool/jacuzzi @home, and opening hour on week day, well you know... closing early blablabla

I'm told these crazy houses also charge crazy prices.

Plus what if the hotel is unsympathetic to my breakfast claret requirements?
