[the agent falls silent, his throat being crushed by the garrotte]

So Uh … who else wishes this mission would either go away or be converted to a mining mission?

Likely because it's ridiculous to have to swap out of a combat ship or buy minerals just to satisfy some non-sequitur mission.

So a mission that gives you an implant that you can sell for usually 20--25 mill and requires you to buy minerals that some helpful trader preplaced into the station and thus doesn't even involve undocking hurts you how?
The only 2 scenarios i see where this could be annoying.

1. You found the only high sec station with storyline agents that doesn't have a ton of the correct ore.

Proposed solution. Buy a ton of that ore and get red frog or the public hauler channel peeps to haul it there for you.
Keep some for yourself but put the rest on sell order for 25% more than you bought it for.

2. you do missions in low sec.
I had to get my alt (wait am i allowed to admit i have alts) down in a venture and it was annoying.
I tried the market thing but as no one missions in low sec no one ever bought it. i think that ore is still sitting in that station.

I do realise i could buy the ore cheaper and haul it every time but seriously the mission takes seconds, is very profitable and the slight increase in profit from buying from a hub and hauling it will never be fun and won't happen unless the traders try and gouge an obscene amount.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

You forgot 3) doing missions for standings.

And now you have the answer to your question.

I love this mission. Drop a load of ore at the station, and keep using that into the future. It's one of my favorite storyline missions because of how fast it i -- less than a minute for the whole thing.

I thing the standing gains are well inn line for the effort, though I do get annoyed if I have it back-to-back multiple times.

99.9999999999999999999 % of the time, the ore, it's never minerals, are right there in Station for sale.

There are more important things of concern in the game.

I'm pretty sure this used to be a mining mission and years and years ago when they changed all the mining mission ores to :worthless: they simply forgot this one. The faction standing reward would be a lot different if you had to mine out 9,000 cubes of Banidine.

It always seems to be omber, so just keep a stash in your local story agent station.

It's Omber for L3, Kernite for L4, Veldspar for L1. I don't remember the L2 ore, though.

Anyway, I like this storyline, because I can sell a +4 implant and it almost doesn't hurt my derived standings.

I thought that MfW only happened with courier and research missions for which it is perfectly suited. To be honest, there should be more like it for the non-combat, standings grinders.

That said, I have to admit I haven't run a combat mission in at least five years, but I still can't recall getting many (if any) of them back then.

In any case, I feel you are really digging deep for something to complain about in starting this thread.

There aren't enough storyline missions to be able to give missions suited to that capsuleer's play style. Thus someone running L3 courier missions will end up with a 10-part courier/trade/combat mission sequence, an ore delivery mission, and so forth.

You try raising the standings of a new character to 7+ with a chosen faction when all you get is MfWP. Since you get a much smaller standings gain from this mission compared to others, it really puts a dampener on progress Lol

I believe it's Scordite for lvl 2.
