Lesson for people offlining towers

Hi peoples,

I had a wonderful sight last night of a tower being offlined in a wormhole with 8 minutes left to go and no obvious hostiles in system.

I decided to take the risk and bring in myself in a pvp cloaky proteus and a corp mate in a Stealth Bomber fit with torps, sebo and TP.

Was fully expecting to get jumped once their hauler arrived to collect the tower, which still had a minute remaining to offline completely.

My corp mate proceeded to bump, decloak and target the hauler prior to him collecting the tower and popped him very quickly. He did get his pod away - just!

Meanwhile I was spamming d-scan and waiting for the cavalry to decloak - nothing happened!

The upshot of the story is we managed to get a free Large Amarr Tower and a kill.

I imagine the guys corp has just learnt an expensive lesson.

If you happen to read this guys - no hard feelings but next time some protection for your hauler may be an idea... Lol

We've done this so many times, both anchoring and unanchoring towers. People just never seem to fully scout new connections/existing connections.

Can't fix stupid I guess.

One of my favourite quotes from a corp mate - May all your targets be stupid and flying poorly fitted ships

It's happened to me. You don't normally get an army on standby to protect the industrial....

Not that they don't want to, but by the time "mayday" is called, the industrials already dead.

Yaay!!!!

My main point is that if you are in the process of unanchoring such a valauable corp asset, surely you would have some protection there to deter a lone ganker or two?

The corp involved was quite a large corp of at least 100 toons so they should have been able to field a few ships at least?

A thought struck me after the fact that maybe the guy was a corp thief and was stealing everything he had roles to do so.

In which case he got exactly what he deserved. Lol

A standard large tower without any modules isn't really that much isk. And the only thing more boring than unanchoring a tower, is babysitting someone else unanchoring a tower.

Now I would have killed him too, but my guess is they couldn't care less about the single stick.

That's how Kyra Kurai liberated his faction tower....

The thing is towers fit really well in my cloaky bloaced runner. I have stolen many offlining tower right under the noses of fleets waiting for it to come offling.

Like everything else in WH space you allways have to imagine I (or someone even sneakier) am 10 k off planing something nasty.

Try lowsec. I found a guy in lowsec the other day who complained to my alt his hauler got blown up when he warped to the wrong moon (of two) at a planet. he complained he'd lost 236M ISK in "POS stuff".

A few minutes with a d-scanner and a Prowler later I'd rescued the 216M of the 236M he had in his Badger Mk II (I of course mean Tayra) from the wreck.

This included a tower and all the stuff required to, I'm guessing, churn out T2 missiles. Dat's good shiz.
