I can selfishly say, with all seriousness, hell no.

Ok here is a way around your stupid idea

don't upgrade clone past 90 m sp then get podded and train new stuff.

done.

Haven't you ever seen the Lion King?

I think the EVE population needs to accept that they are going to die someday - and that death comes at 100M SP.

Don't get attached to your ships. Don't get attached to your pod.

Yes, it contradicts game lore, but its not like that hasn't already happened before, when new game mechanics demand it.

**To be fair, I think CCP should 'grandfather' in older accounts at least 2 million additional SP, so they have a little time to put their affairs in order and say good-bye in a dignified manner.

You still haven't given a good reason, other than it "makes sense". Is 100 million SP "too much"? Why? As it stands now (assuming CCP NEVER introduced new skills from here on out), training every single one to level V would take 20 YEARS. EVE hasn't even been around that long. It's pointless to put a limit on it.

What new game mechanics demand this? There's no reason, other than to be a horrible pain.

Eve is like ******* Clone Wars and you think our characters should just be ended when their bodies go frail? You do realize you can biomass them, right?

Because it is twice the SP of the OP.

So OP how about a char in game only lasted 6 months? That is 10m SP worth, imagine the cheap clones for you then.

C'mon you guys. Give that griefing OP some consideration.

I don't think it's a good idea really. Does not make much sense. Perhaps a limit on how many times you can be cloned perhaps, or maybe a "copy of a copy diminishment' approach meaning your SP build rate slows down the more you get killed.

Such are ideas or modifications of the original idea that are based more on consequences. The OP thinks it would be realistic if we didn't live forever, but we can basically due to the cloning. But should there be consequences? Certainly. Everybody who plays the game and likes to wear "EvE is Harsh!! Go Back to WoW if you don't like it!!!1!!" on their sleeve cannot deny that consequences are what the game is all about, right?

So getting killed too much might be a more workable approach.

The consequences I like the most are the ones that are derived from giving a decision-maker more than enough rope to hang themselves. I apply this concept when designing combat simulations for RL training.

For example, I would like to see a "Live Fast Die Young" option on character creation. This should be an option whereby you have your SP and clones, as usual, or you have a "hyper-SP" capability but because of that you are not clone-capable. This would give new players a shot at taking a gamble: go for accelerated SP gain but if they get podded, that's it. Hudson: Game over, man, game over!

The whole immortal pod pilot thing is silly, lets encourage a character lifespan cycle.

All 'active' characters train - whether you have a skill allocated or not. (This is to prevent people from skilling up to 99M, then training on another char.)

When your character reaches 100M, he 'dies' or graduates from 'Bovine Universtiy', or whatever you prefer to imagine.

You can always adjust your implants or mapping to extend your life, but when you hit 100M, thats it, game over, time to roll a new character.

Obviously a few minor changes would need to be made to the skill training system to accommodate this. (IE, multiple chars on an account...), but CCP had no problem erasing ghost training and ghost implants, so I can't see it being too difficult adjust things in this area as well.

I would like to see this during the Winter Expansion.

There is nothing stopping you from deleting your character at 100M skill points. I suggest you do this, and lead by example.

It is a shortcoming of eve (and other games with similar xp mechanics) that someone can become overpowered simply by hanging around long enough. It is the trade-off we get for not having xp grinding in the game. It's why I like the economic and political game because it is one of the only places I can be stronger than someone who has been playing for many more years. (not advocating for the OP's proposal here. Just understanding the motivation).

90% of of the time my posts are about something I actually find interesting and want to learn more about. Do not be alarmed.

I for one support that characters should require taking some drugs to retain their high skill points, or skills for supercaps. Brain capacity is not unlimited.

For example drugs cost you 1m isk per month for retaining SP higher than 10m, while drugs cost you 1000m for SP over 100m. Supercap skills require extremely expensive drugs that individuals can hardly afford.

This can reduce cap population and make their number reasonable, make supercap feels more like it sounds and make newbies feel that they have a chance to catch up.

This is a really good idea, hope CCP implements this and gives the OP 100M skillpoints as a thank you gift.

I've actually once saw a guy who suggested that once a toon gets past 100m SP he "evolves" (yeah, like in pokemon evolve) into a Jove.

Dumbe... oh wait no, that guy was me actually.

No Sir, I don't like it.

How about this for reality: Your character will die when you die.

Actually, it will probably die before then - when CCP turns the servers off.
