They won't. Just like they didn't pull off Dust. Dust is dying... I mean really obviously dying.

That graph doesn't really mean anything. EVE may have steady grew but it's typical for MMOs to have a spike upon release and then the population tapers off as people leave for various reasons (mostly the game just doesn't suit them) until you are left with those that like it enough to stick with it.

I never even bothered with it myself. Though Valkyrie seems interesting enough to try. I was personally hoping that I could be a drone/fighter/bomber pilot within the EVE universe though.

Player A should be able to kill and loot player B and sell the spoils to player C. That’s how the market works and why I feel Valkyrie should be a standalone game!

Dust kind of manages it through its involvement with FW but even then to most EvE players it’s pretty loose. Dust has been out now for almost a year and I’ve never been even remotely aware of its existence when flying about my normal day to day EvE playing. That’s not integration!

Also, where will Valkyrie play out? EvE has space and Dust has planet surfaces. If Valkyrie pilots can’t play in the same space as EvE pilots then there isn’t any causal link hence the sharing of a common player controlled market is pointless.

I also think that one of the most important features of EvE is its almost psychotic attention to detail and balance. Ok skill levelling times can be quite annoying but they’re an integral part of the universe. I also love tinkering with new fits and trying to eek as much out of my ship and skills as possible. If Valkyrie doesn’t have this then for me it’s pointless and the Oculus rift or whatever other VR system it supports won’t be enough to make this is sure fire winner with Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous hot on its heels.

Personally (and call me crazy) but I’ve always wanted to leave the hanger from the cockpit whilst retaining what the rest of EvE has to offer! Feeling how light and nimble a frigate is compared to the bulk of a BC or BS.

I’d call it EvE 2.0 and make a fresh start. The same universe with the same systems, separate servers and new players, a control system that works for fps flight and whilst docked and a UI that can accommodate VR and a traditional screen. This would certainly get another tenner off me per month!

Apologies to the OP for going off topic but I like a good rant.

Dust was a failure from the launch to present. You didnt had to be a "game designer", "ceo" to see that, but it seems some braindead people from CCP still went with it and lost of money in the process. I still see them mumbling that DUST is awesome and they get money and now they want to make another fail with Valkyre.

Yo braindead producers! YOU HAVE A NICHE GAME for a NICHE MARKET, stop coming with idiotic designs and expand this universe, not by making ******** console FPSES, or god knows what.

Expand this universe on PC, console dont have the gamers for this type of games. Also stop hiring from large ****** companies like EA, Ubisoft and so on. They have no idea about sandbox design or pvp. Most of them, if not all are stuck in the mainstream, braindead mechanics that have no place in this niche.

Hilmar, realy dude, stop listening to trends and idiots, keep EVE a nice game and expand on it on PC. Thats your advantage and thats why u guys are not bankrupt, or making dumb down games like the rest.

Saw this yesterday and I found the following passage interesting
Quote:
RPS: So EVE and Valkyrie are both PC games, but Dust is – for now, at least – only on PlayStation…

Reid: Hold on a second, we haven’t confirmed that Valkyrie’s on PC. It’s capable of playing on PC right now, but we haven’t confirmed what we’re going to launch it on.

RPS: Er, oh. But it makes sense to launch on PC, right? I mean, given where it’s at and all – especially with your heavy support of Oculus Rift.

Reid: It technically works on PC, and it’s working fine, but there are other platforms it could run on. There’s nothing that technically prevents it from running on a console, for example.

Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Simple as that. - Kina Ayami

Its gonna be a console release or a very dumbed down pc shooter.
