Well, it IS an idea....although a laughable one...good luck.

EDIT: I came here thinking that this was going to be a planned freighter gankfest

Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

It is laughable, and that is why it would be so effective.

Think about it.

If NO hauler moved a single piece of freight of ANY kind that didn't already belong to the pilot for an entire 7 day week... in ALL of Eve... it would snap the market in half and drive prices of EVERYTHING through the roof.

Think what Hulkaggedon does to the market every year. It effectively halts most mining and drives mineral prices up by 50% or more. The effects of each Hulkaggedon are felt for months, even years after eahc one. When I first started playing back in 2010, the price of Tritanium was like 1 Isk per, after each Hulkaggedon the price of Trit has gone up to 5 even 10 isk per unit, and did not drop back to 1 isk per until nearly 2 years later.

If all the ships in eve that move that same Tritanium from one market to another were to suddenly stop doing so for a full 7 days...

... the disaster would be enormous.

So help me spread a little chaos within the grid.

Let us protest the unfair treatment of freighters and their pilot severywhere.

It is time to take a stand.

pssst...before drone poop wa removed price was controlled by several factors. The first hulkageddons during this time did not stop completely minerals on the market. Even crap level 4 drone missions pulled in very nice hauls of low to medium ore and the high ends weren't too bad.

Post drone poop prices are high because mission spammers no longer dump cheap mins on market.

Also check out market prices chief. Frieghters most of the time buy orders are within 20-30 mil of sell order. I know I have in the past bought one and sold it next day to have a mass moving night. Difference in price had it cheaper than Red frog rates. I could have gave them 40 mil or lose 20 mil on resale. I opted for the 20.

Basically if freighters go on strike many in eve can by and fly their own anyway. Haulers have a job because most of us just lost interest in it and pay some other guy to do it for us now. Your strike would do nothing...except cut off your nose to spite your face.

Besides which, you already own the contents of each and every courier package you accept.

You've paid your money, you've gotten your goods. The contractor just has made a game mechanically enforced promise to buy it back at another price at another destination.

As a non idea thread I thought I may as well try and bring it to life.

We need another organisation type that is not hierarchical like corp > alliance. It needs to be an individual's choice and sit along side.......Trade unions :)

Miners union
Truckers union
Manufacturing union

Alright so there is no government for the unions to protect their members from but what it does do is bring members of the same profession together in a way that corps and alliance don't. We all know that a well functioning and prosperous corp or alliance needs a mix of skills and professions so have this other thing would group everyone of the same skill set into one place and might make for interesting player driven content......such as general strikes.

As much as this sounds like a good/interesting/fun (take your pick) idea, here's a fatal flaw.

"So no moving of any freight that's isn't owned by me, ok I can get behind that and it's easy to. I'm hauling my stuff to Jita, to sell it. After such said selling it won't belong to me but I won't care."

You're idea only works if the people doing hauling don't have a vested interesting in selling of such said goods. I prepose to you that most of the hauling that goes on is people moving their own goods to sell. Those that are moving corp goods are actually well thought of and paid fairly for their work. If you're not then I suggest you find a better corp.

Gank freighters everywhere and people will start thinking twice before hauling anything. Promises have no value, but fear does.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

please do this. It would be absolutely F***ing hilarious. Especially because strikes never work out in reality - any freighter can make extra iskies by operating at a premium while all others are striking.

Prices wouldn't go through the roof. Jita bears have enough ice+ore stockpiled to withstand siege for months, and null alliances aren't going to stop running their freighters of moon goo because someone asked them pretty please.

Price spikes from these kind of events are due primarily to the speculation of the event rather than the even itself. Now get goons on board and you might cause some speculation.

As much as I dislike ganking, I find the most malicious, cruel players in EVE are us indy guys. Many will trip over your wreck to make a quick buck from, or even for the people who killed you.

Before you call for hi-sec indy's to stand together, look at how many are paying for the privilege of being bent over.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

Nobody is with you. You are completely powerless and your words hold no meaning.

EVE existed without freighters and without mining barges. It can and will do so again if it should prove necessary. Your power over anything is imagined; you hold no sway outside the confines of your mind.

Instead, I would like to propose a true "Freightergeddon".

Freighter warp speeds will change dramatically when Rubicon arrives on Nov. 19th. Already many haulers have declared they will AFK pilot more often as a result - such that there should be a noticeable increase in the number of AFK freighters slowly lumbering along the spacelanes. This is a spectacular opportunity to cull the flock a bit, and should not be missed.
