Hi,

Have a few ideas for improving PI.

ATM it is over bearing and to complex to be enjoyed? its a pain in the .... and its over taxed not worth spending all that time for so little reward.

1. Reduce The Tax

2. Automate transfers from planet to station via a shuttle system - (new PI Skill) as in a small PM interface that can be controlled from any where.
The Need to be in the system to empty CO and storage including refills greatly destroys the PI affair.
To Be Productive you need many Char's involved and this takes away any other time needed for more interesting things.

2.1 With the shuttle system, once the skill is trained you assign a (New ship - PI Shuttle ) :) to ferry the goods to and from station, which is managed in the PI Interface in the S & I Tab After all we are in a high tech Environment with such great technology ( we can warp and jump instantly to other systems) managing planetary should be less painful and time consuming than it is.

3. All PI Menus should be re-sizeable ... endless scrolling and clicking is killing me and my joints :) and my interest in PI

4. Once the extractor has rescanned and you select install program..? why is it necessary to Submit? you already re-scanned?
Why would you re-scan and not install and submit.? this will reduce wast full time and unnecessary processes

5. This one will reduce the pain greatly if implemented..... Once the Industry Facility Schematic is selected it should Automatically find input an output material from any storage facility After all the schematic knows what is required to do and has all the necessary info built in?

^. LINKS ... how painful, why would you install facility's and not link them. Automate the linking, end of story.

There is more but i am afraid the the new changes will kill off pi altogether...:(

came expecting compliants about PI being too simple and not engaging enough.
Left confused.

PS
There is an excellent proposal in another forum section (like this thread should be in another forum section)
I think it was speakers corner.
If implemented it would make PI a richer and more complex experience.

PPS prehaps moons should send all the goo straight to market and put up sell orders for you as well. Just let a bot run the whole game for you.......
Going to stop typing before i start ranting.

You want to practically automate what can already be done without undocking?

There have been quite a few of these "it takes too much effort" threads lately.

It's all so wrong...and utterly so. I ain't wasting my time with a 1,000-point critique.

It's just flat out all:

edit: mainly for absolutely removing any kind of risk at all.

You must not be happy with EVE at all if you can find that many things upsetting about even just PI. Why are you even here ?

due to how many clicks it takes to get the simplest thing done within PI. there's a lot of quality of life changes that can be made.

especially routing. especially since when you route one input it then closes the storage menu of all the materials in the silo/launch pad etc so you have to open it again (an unnecessary click)... it's just a really un-fun and obtuse system to work with in general.

Yay, this account hasn't had its signature banned. or its account, if you're reading this.

Yes, because a completely risk-free passive-income activity should just be the biggest barrel of monkeys in the whole game....
I, for one, welcome the whole "all customs offices will be player-owned" change.
Why are there seriously so many of you that aren't happy enough with the (illusion of) safety of high sec, as-is?

Unreal indeed. Want to reduce tax? Get your own customs office. Oh I forgot that should be automated with a new skill.

I propose that people who dump bad ideas in GD, instead of in F&I where they belong, receive a 72 hour forum ban.

In case that was too much snark for you: This thread does not belong in General Discussion. Suggestions belong in Features and Ideas, where they can be safely ignored to the benefit of the general populace.

Reported for forum change.

Maybe you should have to individually move items from structure to structure in PI. Make a mini game out of it and take away the afk part.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Don't misunderstand.... there are passive ISK making ventures that are necessary. PI is one of them. But for the risk involved, it is rewarding enough, if you know what you're doing.
When the highsec POCOs are a thing, I would really like to see at least 25% of that ISK you spend upgrading modules and building structures go straight to the corp of individual who owns the POCO.

But, yes... the illustrious Kaarous was spot-on. half the snark you're catching is for posting in the wrong forum. The other half is because your idea really does suck.

I completely approve of this.

And when you're done whipping him, I have been a bad, BAD pirate. Lost a LOT of sec status, lately. I need to be punished.

who mentioned safety?

clearly you've never done PI or you'd know there's an obscene amount of clicking within an obtuse framework which has many, many quality of life issues.

also the issue i mentioned has nothing to do with high sec, or null sec, or low sec, or wormholes. it has to do with the fact that PI is built in a clunky framework which is neither user friendly, interesting, or fun. the extra, unnecessary clicks make it repetitive and infuriating. neither of which produce a fun or interesting experience. when i'm playing a game i expect at least one of those factors to be present in every aspect of that game.

now, stop crying about something i didn't mention and read before you reply.

I'll address each one of these as I go down:

obtainium wrote:
1. Reduce The Tax

Don't do PI in High-Sec, Get your own POCO in Low\Null\WH or in Hi-Sec when Rubicon comes.

obtainium wrote:
2. Automate transfers from planet to station via a shuttle system

No, this automates PI and would drop it's value. PI does add content in the form of Capsuleers taking haulage ships to pick up their goods and move them to more planets\stations\trade hubs etc. Remove this and you remove that content which is the opportunity for someone to kill their ship\ransom them\steal their goods or any number of things.

obtainium wrote:
2.1 With the shuttle system...

Already answered that above. No, this should never happen.

obtainium wrote:
3. All PI Menus should be re-sizeable

I could not agree more with you! Fully support this point.

obtainium wrote:

Why would you re-scan and not install and submit.? this will reduce wast full time and unnecessary processes

5. This one will reduce the pain greatly if implemented..... Once the Industry Facility Schematic is selected it should Automatically find input an output material from any storage facility After all the schematic knows what is required to do and has all the necessary info built in?

^. LINKS ... how painful, why would you install facility's and not link them. Automate the linking, end of story.

(Apologies, I ran out of quotes allowed so had to break the below down)
On installing\submit: The final submit is confirmation that you have everything in place that you wanted. Sometimes I click install and then go back to uninstall as I've realised I need to remove an extractor head and add it to my other Extractor. Auto-submit would be a nightmare for me and doesn't aid anything.

On auto-routing: This is just being lazy! Effort in for results out. Those stupid enough not to check that their routes have been setup successfully deserve to not have their manufacturing goes so well. I've messed it up quite a few times by not paying attention and I'v ehad to rejig a few things.

On auto-linking: No, again being lazy but this would mean that anyone who has their links set in a particular way to save some Power would have to delete those "auto-links" and build the new ones every time? No, this is just absurd to me. For instance: I have one Extractor out beyond my nearest one to storage. I route my furthest through my nearest and into storage. Autolinking wouldn't work for me because I link in a certain way. Other planets have links going to a particular structure so that if I change any of the others I don't need to change my links. You see the problem with this idea yet?

My ideas on what we need for PI:

1) Above each\in the center installation on the planet show the icon of what is being extracted\produced at that installation. If it's Construction Blocks then show the little icon that they use in the Schematic and on the market to show at a glance what's being manufactured and remove the need to click on the facility. Not lazy, just less clicking and more intuitive.

2) Show when there are no Inbound\Outbound routes set-up with a "No Entry" style icon. I imagine this being at the lower right of an installation (imagine the "No Entry" being where the cap boosters show in this and the shield actually being the structure on the plant (sorry I can't edit as at work) picture). Again this gives you a visual notification that you've missed something without the need to click on the installation. Want to fix it then you need to click in.

3) Improve the Planet UI interface: Add Storage Installations if there are any and show the % of m3 used\available. Doesn't mean you can mess with it but would save clicking into each planet to visual eye-ball each storage device. Another simple QoL fix.

I don't want to thread-jack but feel free to come back on anything I've said.

I think having NPC shuttles doing the haul is wrong, It removes a lot of game play and the only true "Risk" that is so amazingly, uncomprehendebly, divinely important to some people.

I would love to see the launch being preformed from anywhere (As it is just telling someone to push the red button) over communications thingy from anywhere, Just like telling them to scan, do routes and so on.

and I would love to see stuffs in a CO showing up in your assets so they can be contracted to players who make thier game out of transporting stuffs, opening up new Isk opportunities for players, while letting the PI owner do their thing, where they wish to, and still having this "Risk" remaining =)
