Agreed.

I dunno, films/tv shows based on computer games tend to suck. Badly.

I am trying hard to recall a single case where there was movie or tv show based on a videogame and anything good came out of it...

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Series 1: Nine exciting and visceral ship-spinning action sequences

Don't forget, there's an episode that is nothing but various angles of mining lasers fitted to at least 50 mining ships entitled "You're Welcome, Stoners" that is capped off by the whole damn mining op getting blown up.

having a scene where an entire mining fleet gets blown up wouldn't be entirely out of the question, at fanfest, they said they were going to base this series on real things that happened in the last 10 years of Eve.

So yes, the great wars will be in there, among many other big stories of Eve Online.

its a good think they don't plan to do a simultaneous events system like Defiance, because you just know someone would try to gank the in game ships/characters etc. with something. I wouldn't like to see CCP cancel the show after the main characters get blown up suddenly in the middle of an episode.

But.....I want to watch a half hour/hour of nothing but mining lasers, Orcas, Rorquals, and possibly a freighter/industrial on my TV while I run a mining op IRL.

Bonus points if both get ganked at the same time!

That or the sheer amount of mining lasers would lull me to sleep like the awesome lullaby it is.

Should have watched the stream of Fanfest, and you will know they are really developing a TV series based on the exploits of Eve Pilots.

"Real" is an interesting question.

I think that Defiance showed how this kind of thing is possible: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2189221/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

They announced it at fanfest and I believe they have Baltasar Kormákur (Icelandic Director) on record as interested in being part of the project: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0466349/?ref_=tt_ov_dr

As far as I know, that's about as real as it gets. I would expect to hear it's being pitched around to various entertainment execs right now, but as far as I know that's as far as it has gotten in the development process.

So will it happen? Big question mark. No one really knows unless there has been progress that is being kept under wraps.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Orphen: the first season of the TV show was far superior to the video game. The second season never even happened, as far as I've managed to convince myself after witnessin what was purported to be it.

Halo Expanded Universe: I must now change my manthong, for it is sticky.

The Street Fighter Anime (not the American cartoon, nor the American live action movie, which were both total drek)

Battletech: based off the Mechwarrior games which were based off the old tabletop RPG, which spawned a massive Expanded Universe that is (warning: heresy follows) better than Star Wars, Star Trek, and Stargate, combined.

If anyone brings up Wing Commander, I will kill you (in game).

I'm pretty sure there was an anime TV show based off of a game called Assault Suits Valken (aka: Cybernator, in North America). I heard it was amazing. Not surprising, considering that Assault Suits Valken was one of the best sci fi adaptations of the Vietnam War that ever happened.

If anyone can step outside their comfort zone to create a tv show based on a video game without completely ******* it up, I believe CCP can! We've already had DUST, oh wait..

They can spare the budget by filing one decent episode. The following 8 episodes will be recreations of forums posts. "Eve is Dying", "Let's Whine about an Expansion" and "WHY WON'T THE DEVS EVER GIVE ME FREE STUFF LIEK SOMEBLINK", not to mention the ever popular "Episode 6-NAUGHT".

The episode "Let's Whine About an Expansion" would be one where Garamonde (remember.... played by John Barrowman.... I'm quite insistent on this) is lounging back on a nearby couch, with a rum and coke in hand, looks up from his data pad and tells everyone "Good news, guys..... it works just fine for me.", no less than 3 times during the episode.

I am hoping it will be a documentary series with David Attenborough narrating aka “Frozen Planet”.

.......and here we have the largest colony of idiots in New Eden, thousands of them clustered on a single station in Jita. Their repetitive calls filling the comms channels as idiots try to scam other idiots. Returning to the colony is a steady stream of traders with full bellies. In space by the entry points, dark sleek forms are waiting, constantly scanning, always alert. The hunters of idiots are searching for the special idiot with a full belly using autopilot.

The hunters are focused as a special idiot lands 15km from safety and slowly crawls towards the colony. Working together like wolves of space, the whole pack simultaneously launches an assault. The unwary idiot’s hull is vaporised, contents spilling out into space to be quickly gathered in. New calls burst across the comms channels “Tears Harvested” and “Ha Ha Newb”. Demonstrating through more evolved, the hunters are a sub species of idiot.

Next weeks enthralling episode focuses on that Leviathan of space, the Titan! A whole hour of watching something big do fucck all.

I believe it is, an icelandic director is taking on the task if I recall correctly. Smile

The director is also suppose to have a Game of Thrones connection as well.

Probably Lee Evans. (A UK comedian/actor oft compared to the late great Norman Wisdom but not half as good.
