I have this objectiv in a mission:

Objective: Make a stand at the pirate base – destroy at least one ship and survive for as long as you can against the reinforcements that come.

So I warp into the mission, and there is a lone frigate.
I destroy this frigate.

There is then a spawn of 3 spider drones and 10 cruisers.
So I destroy this spawn, starting with the spider drones.

Then nothing happens.

Been sitting in the mission site now for an hour, no new spawn. no hidden items. just nada.
I petitioned it and they reset the mission.

Repeate:

So I warp into the mission, and there is a lone frigate.
I destroy this frigate.

There is then a spawn of 3 spider drones and 10 cruisers.
So I destroy this spawn, starting with the spider drones.

Then nothing happens.

How long is "survive for as long as you can" supposed to be?

Hello, I think you haven't read mission objectives properly. Hopefully I'm correct on this one, but you have to lose a ship! Check if you have this text within your mission objectives:

Let me stress this point, player name: We want to see how long you can stay alive in there, so you are not to leave the area with your ship intact. You should use the frigate I’m giving you. I don’t want to see you losing a larger, more expensive ship on this test. If you have anything better lying around in your hangar, don’t get any ideas: Keep it there unless you want to lose it.

It's not about staying alive, it's about losing a ship. Once when you're in POD, you can warp to your station and finish a mission.

EDIT: You still have to kill that initial ship ; ) so bring some firearms.

Yeah, I focused on the "survive for as long as possible" part, since its normally not my style dying. At least not willingly.
Once I died, instead of killed the mission completed.

Confusing and contradicting instructions tho in the mission objectives.

There's a bit of RP mixed into some of the mission instructions. Where the RP meets the game mechanics, things can get a bit confusing for new players. There's an Eve "style" that you will pick up on in time. Start by taking some of the things the agents say with a grain of salt and reading the eve-survival.org reports.

You have almost 200 million sp and you are doing the tutorials? Just wondering what for?

This mission is designed to introduce tru-newbs to the fact that losing your ship isn't the end of the world. No tru-newb will survive the damp/web/dps onslaught. You or I? Chortle.

There should be a third wave that is worse, or an option to complete the mission without dying by killing the entire spawn like I did.

I'm not really keen on dying.

I've never done those tutorial missions. When I read the first part of this thread I was maddly searching my memory for what the heck mission this was heh.

Do you get a lot of standing for the tutorials or are you just doing them for something different?

It's alright, about 1.0 faction per group and you can run each group only once, there are three groups.

Also it is nice to see what newbies get when they start.
