Hi,

There's been a major hack attempt on our servers - this has affected all websites (many thousands) and the service has been disabled until its resolved.

I hope this won't be an extended delay but it could take a few hours.

Teamspeak/Vent services should not be affected

I will get back to you asap with an update. For those customer who have not signed up to our mail list please subscribe using Eve Corporation Subscribers in your ingame mail application - this will help us keep you updated

It appears to be a SQL injection using the Killboard. This brought down the database server and affected a couple of thousand websites so of course the server was stopped and all sites affected disabled until the cause was isolated.

We are close to re-enabling all the sites and an update will be posted here and using the ingame mail list for our clients.

This has been a particularly nasty attack and we have to ensure no reoccurence of this is allowed. All the offending coding in the Killboards is having to be sanitized before any of the sites can be restarted and there are at least a hundred sites with killboards so its taking a while.

I will be forwarding our findings to the EDK team for investigation

Can't help but wonder...EDK does seem to have a few weaknesses like that. At any rate, best of luck mate.

All services have been restored.

A fuller investigation of this episode is under-way and results will be sent to our clients. We will also be contacting the EDK team to ensure they know of this exploit and allow them to get a patch out to protect other users of the Killboard.
