Try running a few anoms before trying to launch probes for the first time. I find doing 2 or 3 first means the probes will then show up.

When I read this I thought it was totally silly.

But I tried it anyway. It worked.

I found you do not need to do the anoms, just visit them. Also docking and undocking, and jumping to not undo the effect of the visit to the anoms.

Didn't work for me - though I only visited 2 anoms and was cloaked at the time...

I'll try without cloak perhaps - how long do you think I need to stay there?

So 4 months on and no fix we can just assume ccp telling us mac users with this problem to fu*k off. Quite disappointing i must say. CCP picks something that works, decides to improve it, and completely breaks it, then ignores it save one forum post.

I did it without cloaking, in high sec. I stayed at each of the three anoms just long enough to warp to the next one. Also, it was the first thing I did upon logging in. I think launching probes before visiting three anoms will make this workaround fail.

Note I returned the travel computer with 10.8 on it to IT and am back on my regular computer with 10.7. Thus I can no longer test this bug.

I suspect CCP are hoping the problem just disappears with Mavericks - since it's not on 10.7 they're viewing it as an Apple problem...

Which is incorrect approach, since Wine works.

But when other companies are starting to step up to Mac gaming CCP proves again it's not interested in actively supporting Macs. Happy to take our subs though.

Was having the same problem, reinstalled with no effect, deleted files from username/library/application support, still nothing.

I turned ant-aliasing on and my probes came back.

Well that was short lived, now nothing I do will bring my probes back. :(

I burnt up my advanced booster training for invention and exploration now i can't explore to get the stuff i need?

Please figure this out.

You can explore, its just a bit slower.

Select all the probes in the probe window and you can manually change their range

Hold down the modifier key that shows all the probes in space. Grab an outer one and move it. When you do concentric circles show up showing you the bubble edge, halfway to the edge, and so on. Move the probe to get the spacing you wish.

Its a pain, slow, but possible.

From the patch notes;

FIXES
Numerous client defects have been fixed in this release, making New Eden a better place for everyone.

Yeah, so long as by 'everyone' you don't include Mac users who use exploration - no spheres still.

But I suppose it's OK, cos I can at least get a luxury 'T-Shirt'.... /sarcasm

Big smile

Looks like Mavericks fixes the sphere's not showing.

Also gives a marginally improved framerate with one client running, and significant improvements when multiple clients are running (though the client that does not have focus is significantly reduced - but I kinda don't mind that, since I'd prefer good speed on the one I am presently interacting with).

Anyway, Mavericks installed on my MBP Mid 2009, working like a charm - and a couple of degrees cooler too

Another successful upgrade here. No issues with the client not starting, and probes seem to work fine now (though have only logged in twice so far).

Another confirmation that it is working in Mavericks.

Also confirming that the client has worked well in Mavericks. In fact, it's smoother.

Hey all, is anyone able to confirm whether this issue is still occurring frequently for them?

So I decided for the first time ever to try my hand at this Relic and Data site thing and I thought that since I have good scanning skills I should dust off the old Anathema and fit her up. Undocked and launched the probes in their new fancy formations with these 8 beautiful shinny blue spheres showing up in space. A bit of alignment here and there and soon I got me a Data site.

Moved on to the next system, launched probes and..... whaaaat..? where are my probe spheres?, rince and repeat... Nope still missing.

Pretty much went through all the remedies in this thread, and sadly my shinny blue probe spheres refuse to return, leaving me with these very faded and hard to see sphere grids.

You left out the most important part: The OS. It appears that 10.7.x is good, 10.8.x is bad, and 10.9.x is good.

So upgrading to Mavericks did the trick...
