Enough with this "information listing" everywhere the mouse hovers! Don't really need the entirety of the item's description on something just because we hovered the mouse in the wrong place...

Also, why remove the *blue* from the info button?

It used to be like "Hey stupid, i'm over here!", but now its all like "Hah, come find me if you can sucka." Which imho, is a bad change.

Any reasons for this, or just more change for change sake?

While I agree that the information listing is a bit excessive, it seems to be a bug for it to appear in the market data window rather than only in the quickbar window.

As for the info buttons, they seem even bigger than they used to be and as such I'm not quite sure how you're managing to miss them.

New info icon is fine. Change is not always bad. It is a little bit bigger than before and blends much better in the color schemes. Old icon is like win98.

Much harder to hit for me, being visually impaired, that's for sure. Contrast is king in my world, and that new one isn't.

Well, if this massive info listing pop-up is a bug, it definitely has survived multiple iterations of the build...seems it is intentional. Ugh

The hover for items in the market is intentional. It was intended to be useful, we're of course interested if you care to elaborate on why you find it redundant.

Is it not useful for seeing at a glance ship bonus information or the description of a module?

The change to the Show Info and other visual changes you may or may not have noticed are part of ongoing UI modernization work, that CCP Arrow is driving.

I actually like the new popup/info screen, but is there any possibility it can be added as a toggle (in the market options or in the esc menu)?

I find the pop up usefull myself very nice adition just a few notes that might be a good idea to look into

1) add an option to delay it 5>10>15>disable this way ppl can choose it have it set to instant defualt

2) on the info button the ! with a circle maybe make a few diffrent ones and then have ppl choose them in the UI costamization theam

3) alwas give player options ^^

For some of the modules it is okay. Its a matter of scope. When that pop-up devours nearly the whole of the height of the screen, covering over all the helpful information that the mouse was just near...that is when it becomes a problem. It then becomes like boxing with your mouse just to see the other info on the window you were just looking at.

At this point it is information overload, as it copies the entirety of the full item description wherever the mouse may land, regardless of whether that info is already on the screen.

Same thing happened when you tried to change the turret 'icons'....you added every single detail you could squeeze in. And it no longer preformed the function of an icon. Same in this case, ALL THE INFO is not the same as having a bit of key info on mouse hover. (if i want to know all the developmental lore and so forth, i'll read it on the items 'info card')

The hover for items in the market is horrible! Who the hell wants to see the same useless tooltip that covers the whole screen with tiny unreadable text for EVERY ******* MARKET ORDER you hover the mouse over?

Maybe you try to use the market once for real and not only in a design study. Or maybe think of the people that move the mouse where they look at to not lose the position in endless market order tables.

Sorry for the harsh words, but it is such a stupid thig...

If you leave it for Rubicon release, I guaranty you there will be a shitstorm and bet 100M ISK that you will remove this "feature".

The problem is that the mouse usually rests somewhere and you will get the hover popup when you dont want it and you have to move the mouse again. I'm also absolutely not interested in the "development" part. It's clutter.

It's redundant, simple as that. Ref: http://i.imgur.com/NKUWxmB.png

i like the idea of the market info pop up, however i think the current implementation is bad, because:

1. The Information is displayed in the wrong place. it SHOULD pop up when hovering over the LEFT side of the screen, when you are browsing the inventory to find which module to pick. on the RIGHT side of the screen i have already chosen my item, and need no more information.

2. It displays the WRONG information (sometimes).
At the moment, it appears to be displaying the 'Description' Tab of the SHOW INFO window. For new players, this is helpful when chosing which module etc. to buy. Unfortunalty, this information is already available, if you click the 'Groups' Tab of the market. so either you keep the info popup, or remove the groups tab, we don't need both. it is simply clutter. personally, i think the groups tab is more usefull. btw, it could do with an overhaul, i can think of TONS of improvements for this particular tab.

For Veteran players, the 'descrition' tab is useless, it contains information we already know 95% of the time.

My suggestion for making this feature ACTUALLY usefull for veterans: use the same UI principle as the quick filters of the inventory. I mean the Small white buttons. that if clicked chose what you want to know at the momen: the 'description' tab, the 'attributes' tab or the 'fitting' tab or any other that items can possibly have ( cant be bothered to look up what the tabs Blueprints, for example have).
depending on which you have selected, it changes the info shown both as popup, and the info shown in the 'Groups' tab. i rarely use that tab, because it doesn't show me the info i need. however, if instead of showing all the items in the group with their description, i could have it show all the items in the group and ther FITTING and ATTRIBUTES, this would become a GREAT window.

Example: sometimes when fitting a ship and you have to meta down some modules in order to fit something, i find myself needing to quickly compare items.
I want to meta down a Target painter II because it will give me that little bit of CPU i need to fit X.
in this scenario it would be really usefull to have the 'fitting' tab be the popup, so i can quickly compare all the targetpainters to find out which one to pick so i have enough cpu.

Another example: someone sends me a fitting for a Thorax fleet fitting, and i have to Meta the guns because i cannot use Tech II. Since i dont use them often, i dont know what the meta 4 is called.
i open medium blasters in market, have the 'Groups' Tab Quickfilter on 'Attributes' and cann see all Meta lvl of all blasters without having to open the comparetool.

I agree with most of the criticism in this thread.

It's not a horrible idea but I believe it's being implemented incorrectly. I find it obtrusive most of the time. Its fine if it pops up on the listing on the left side (Market Browser) but its unnecessary in the Buy/Sell listings. I think most people hover the mouse there when they are choosing where to buy and not looking for information anymore.

This, completely! Although I don't see what was wrong with the old info icon...

The data the popup displays is going to be a problem. If only the description text is shown it is, to an extent, useful only to newbies. Older players need to see (some) attributes and CPU/PG fitting data (calibration points for rigs).

If it already has been decided that only description is to be shown then there MUST be a way to disable the popup.

Also the popup MUST NOT be shown on the right side of the market window where the individual market order for a given product are shown. It SHOULD be shown only on the tree view.

There also MUST be some limit to the amount of text shown because some item descriptions are really really really long. The resulting very large popup covers up a lot of the UI potentially hiding useful other data especially if the market window is opened in space, in 0.0, in hostile territory, where not seeing some parts of the UI will get you killed.

EDIT: To not sound entirely negative nelly here. The idea itself is sound, it's just that the current implementation is faulty.

If you are going to implement it, and not going to let us turn it off, then at least strip it down to strictly useful information.

[Ship name]
[bonus1]
[bonus2]

[bonus3]
[bonus4]

[role bonus]

That's it, everything else is clutter in my opinion.

If anyone needs this info this is all they need. I get the idea, I really do, but it feels redundant and I REALLY don't wish to see this popping up all the time when browsing the market.

May I suggest you give this popup when you hover a link to an item? Unless this is also implemented, in which case, sweet, that's all we would need.

Please add a toggle so we can turn off this useless info popup. When I'm trading, I don't care at all about what the module or ship does, I don't care for it's stats or fitting.

i would prefer that the tooltips show when i am holding some modifier key (isn't there already a hotkey for show info? make sure that works globally/)

Tooltips over the d-scan panel in space is a really bad idea :( Maybe just add a little "i" to click on to see the ships info instead of a textbox blocking the entire d-scan panel.

It's a pain in the fuucking arse! This is information overload. Has this seriously been usability tested? I'm asking that in all seriousness because if someone who works on my team had put a piece of UI code in like that I would have smacked them back so hard they'd have whiplash.

1. Usable? No. It's a wall of text, and that's ugly.
2. Visually pleasing? No. It's a wall of text, and it is better presented in the show info window.
3. Necessary? No. It's duplicating functionality.
4. Does it impact performance? That I can't answer, I'd hope that you aren't making remote calls every time you hover over each item. That would suck...
5. It pisses me off.

Please, roll back that change.
