Hello new players,

In the spirit of comraderie and universal love and peace I come to you today to share some advice...

Never, ever, fit or consider using smartbombs in hisec. Even if you are bawls deep in a mission pocket, with no-one seemingly nearby, this is a very very very bad idea...

But TBH it was worse than this before Retribution expansion where there was no safety switch, it was funny to watch your smartbombs/ECM burst go off suddenly at a gate because of a miss-click on your side Lol

I use smartbombs in highsec. I always check the show all overview tab before turning off the safety. But they can be quite effective when you get jammed on missions or getting rid of web/scram NPC frigs.

I have yet to be hit with a cloaky player trying to get me concorded... Seems like a lot of effort for very little LOLs or otherwise.

Perhaps it works for you that way ...

I don't know if it's still the same but it used to be if you hit a beacon or accel gate for a mission, it would trigger concord. So as long as there isn't a beacon near, or what not, you'll do fine but beacons and the like aren't always displayed on everyone's overviews.

I have seen much better than just a cloaky getting you CONCORDOOKENED.

There's footage on Youtube of someone cloaking, 10km further from the sun than their smartbomb-fit rival. They are fleeted with 12 players that are in just their capsules at the sun. Smartbomb goes off, fleet warp to me at 10km, smartbomb vaporizes 12 pods, and not only is our mark CONCORDOOKENED, but they are also banished to lowsec until they can get their sec status back from -9.8.

That wasn't for the lulz, it was over a pretty big grudge.

The one legitimate use for highsec smartbombs, IMO, is exterminating those large multiboxer/botter mining fleets. During one of the earlier Hulkageddons someone got 9 Mackinaws and all their pods with one smartbomb battleship.
