For those that don't know TIDI is short for Time Dialation. It is a part of the game that traps pilots in an an almost frozen like state of gameplay. As an example warping from one gate to another while TIDI is in effect can take several minutes.

TIDI was introduced to EVE to combat the 'lag monster' which brought several non-memorable past battles to a standstill. It was CCP's way of saying hey we killed the lag monster. I had experienced TIDI running at 10% during the battle in FR-B1H that cost Black Legion many super capitals.

Now with several expansions in EVE since TIDI was introduced nobody it seems cares about TIDI or the fact that the lag monster still exists. If the lag monster can never be killed and TIDI is to continue then please add this to the game.

When TIDI is running in a system and falls below 50% or some reasonable amount then block pilots from entering the system until TIDI runs at a reasonable rate.

If I was BL I would be petitioning every super loss since they were trapped at playing the game at a speed of a tortoise while all the rabbits came flooding in from far and wide.

No, you wouldn't. You'd be happy that the game was actually playable and that you had a chance of getting out of there as opposed to automatically losing all ships without any recourse because your client no longer had any input or effect on the battle.

…and even then, there would be no grounds for reimbursement — lag never was; tidi even less so.

Confirming that the force which fills the system with trial alts first should win by default as nobody else can get in.

TiDi may not be the optimal gaming experience.
However what was here before TiDi was much, much worse than that.

I'd rather play the game at 10% speed than stare at the screen for hours not being able to play at all.

I would gladly endure TiDi for the rest of my days, than deal with any of the lag that even a spontaneous 50v50 used to generate.

Oh god someone doesn't quite understand what tidi is and why its there.

Please can CCP just lock his client up for 2 hours then make him appear in a station.

The fight to stop lag is still ongoing, tidi just helps that.

So you want regular, good old fashioned normal lag, huh? And maybe throw in some rubberbanding for good measure? That's what all the normal MMOs have, and all those other players like it that way! (Except that they don't.)

I swear, these forums are sometimes more entertaining than the actual game. (Oops - did I really just say that?)

Indeed, something needs to be done about the lag monster. Because it's monstrous.

We also need to kill Manbearpig before it can kill us.

edit: seriously though, TiDi is WAY better than getting lagged out, logging off, logging back in and fiding yourself in a station after getting killed and podded.

Either TiDi or mass disconnects and black screens. Don't really think there's a choice here.

Op you are so wrong

TiDi = heaven compare to black screen for hours more than your worst tidi

If you dislike tidi just undock into hostiles and log out for three hours. Volia, life before tidi

Door swings both ways.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The rules:
3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

Also, for further clarification on how TIDI actually works see this EvElopedia article and this Dev Blog.

Fine, lets kill the lag monster once and for all...

We'll pass the hat around and get CCP the first ever Quantum Super Computer, not one of those finicky 8 bit ones, no I mean a quantum computer the size of the supercomputer/cluster they have Eve running on now.

Unless you're able to give them that kind of hardware, the lag monster is here to Stay. TiDi is the best way of reducing it's bite by letting people at least play the game instead of just having the whole thing explode in their faces.

Also, anyone with half a brain would know that any engagement with supercaps and titans will be escalated by other sides, so there will be hordes of people flocking to the fight, and TiDi will kick in. This is simply something you have to deal with as being part of doing something like this in the first place.

Edit: HA! In After The Lock!

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

You really think no tidi would have saved those Supers? Shocked

I agree with the issue, it's like CCP has said, we can't fix lag, so you'll all get it to the max. But all tidi did in that fight was make a 5 hour fight out of a 30 minute fight.
