How about getting rid of 2 turrret slots, 1 High off the maelstrom and changing the dmg bonus to 10% lvl so it could be like a shield counterpart to the hyperion. Then give the tempest 2 more turret slots, throw in more PG, get rid of 5% turret damage and replace with optimal? That would encourage more use for the maelstrom as a shield brawler with a utility high and give the tempest purpose as an arty platform.

Where would the high slot taken from the Maelstrom go? Mid or low? Also you said get rid of the 5% damage bonus on the Tempest. Do you mean it would have 5% rof and optimal bonus? The Maelstrom would still beat the Tempest with a 10% damage bonus if that is the case. 6 guns + 50% damage vs 8 guns + no damage bonus.

Yeah the tempest would keep the rof bonus but with 8 guns it could be repurposed as an arty because alpha.

As for the Mael, you can move that slot to med for better tanking/utility/prop options

But without the damage bonus it would do less alpha than Maelstrom who has 6 guns + 50% damage bonus. 8 effective turrets vs 9 for volley damage. It should have 5% damage instead of rof for artillery usage.

Mid would help the Maelstrom a lot. Especially for solo pvp due to it's general lack of either prop/web/tackle.

So you want to have the fat, slow, big a** Maelstrom as an AC platform and the fast, agile Tempest as the arty platform? wtf?
The issue here is the Tempest, not the Maelstrom, do not ruin the 2 when trying to buff one.

There were lots of suggestions in the original thread about minmatar ship rebalance tread. They all got ignored.

I think the ship needs more than fine tuneing. The radical change of tthe typhoon made it awesome. Give the tempest a rework idc what aslong it stays fast.

I personally would still rather see the Tempest as a fast/agile autocannon ship. He did make a suggestion though and has been supporting it so I am listening to him rather than shutting him out.

Tempest didn't changed. It was bad in high-sec, it continues to be bad in high-sec.
I don't see many battleships in low-sec.
In null sec I wouldn't be surprised if is still used like was used before, I know there is now the neut geddon, but I think it was the whole package that made it successful, neuts + capless guns + speed + *average* tank.

The best option would be to remove one turret, give it a mid, increase rof bonus (to get to the same dps level it had before, or even increase it), keep the 2 utility highs, make it a 766 ship, keep the speed (or increase it somehow) and nerf hp if you must.

But in the end:

The big question for me is, how the hell were they able to **** up the ships with 2 weapon damage bonuses with the rebalance? Rupture, Hurricane, Tempest... they have 2 damage bonus, 2!!! *sigh*
I understand some of them were for the *greater good* (aka *usage numbers*), but buffing all Ys to X level and nerf X in the end? Depressing.

It would be interesting to hear what the devs think of the Tempest as it has remained unchanged for a very long amount of time.
