Improved breaks

I find my ship has a hard time getting to a complete stop.

Would it be possible to get more powerful breaks so we can actually stop our ships.

as an example my current ship (Dominix) has a top speed of 148 m/s

Accelerating from 0 - 148 m/s takes 42 seconds.
Decelerating from 148 - 0 m/s takes 59 seconds.

That is 40% longer to stop, does inertia work slower in reverse?

Remind me where the brakes on a ship are located, again?

If you want to decelerate faster, reduce its mass.

Reducing its mass will still make it stop slower than it speeds up.

Visually, it makes sense. You don't see any ships with main reverse engines.

They could always do a 180 flip and main burn, like a Battlestar Gallatica Viper in combat :P

When you are in 'space' with bigger thrusters on the back of the ship then on the front, that's the way things happen.

Granted i know we are in liquid space or whatever.

Super secret pro tip:

If you want to slow down faster, don't just mash ctrl+space. Double-click behind your ship to start heading in the opposite direction as if you wanted to turn around. For some reason this slows you down faster than just stopping. When your speed approaches zero, hit ctrl+space to come to a full stop.

Emergency stop should leave a tar trail in space.
