Once you have all the cool icons in place it would be nice to have a little grid of icons on the left that you can turn on and off to emphasize/de-emphasize ships that meet those criteria (as expressed by icons).

So if there is a missile icon in this panel and it's active then ships that have missiles will be highlighted. Any ships that don't meet those criteria won't be highlighted. By default all would be selected.

That basic capability to show what ships have what properties at a glance will be huge for this system.

The weapon system icons on the ships all show SMALL turrets.

I've just been playing with ISIS on the latest build and I am very much enjoying browsing it. I thought I'd leave some initial feedback.

  • Presentation
  • From a presentation perspective, it looks glorious and has lots of appealing visual touches. The visual flair really shows up the old ship information panes - it'd be great (and a logical progression) if those were updated to integrate more seamlessly into ISIS.

Whilst I enjoy the full screen spread and the ability ot overlay other windows on top, it is a little pervasive in certain use cases. It'd be nice to also have a windowed mode (or even better, a window that could detached from the client onto a second screen, but I won't hold my breath on that).

The language used to describe the military traits of each faction is a little clunky. I'm not a fan of "backed up with drones." It makes it sound as if the plumbing is clogged.

  • Interaction
  • I hope this will get some more attention, it all feels a little off at the moment. The two-step mouse-wheel zoom feels disconnected and laggy, with the location of the mouse pointer having little or no bearing on the focus of the zoom. Can this not be a more analogue zoom?

Click-dragging suffers from the same disconnect the PI interface does, wherein the mouse cursor can move the entire width of the screen, but the object being dragged (in this case the entire Ship Tree) does not move the corresponding amount. It feels like trying to write whilst wearing oven gloves.

  • Functionality
  • I'm not entirely certain of the purpose of ISIS at present, but I really like it and hope that it finds a use. Is any interactivity planned such as a search function or customisable display criteria? eg. Highlighting particular ships or groups (missile/shield tank/Mastery lvl II+ etc.).

What about some kind of achievement-based function such as showing number of hours flown in a particular ship or number of losses/kills of a particular ship (link to Kill Reports)?

  • Overall
  • ISIS is strangely hypnotic and fascinating, but frustratingly empty. I want it to do more than it does. It feels like it doesn't quite show what I want to see. I look forward to seeing it fully realised with whatever functionality that will go along with it.

Is it just me or are the lines on the Isis that just came out rather displaced?

Ships you dont have the skills to fly should really be greyed out even if you have the necessary skills partially trained. Also. if you dont have the skills to fly a ship, any mastery Level is irrelevant and shouldnt be displayed imo. Keep it clean.

My UI is in the way, there are 2 ways to solve this problem:

    1. Hide the normal UI when entering ISIS

    2. Make ISIS menu bounds bigger so you can put any ship in the center of screen even if its the bottom right one

Can you define displaced? A screenshot would be great.

Thanks, this is great. Will raise this with CCP Optimal and CCP Arrow when I get the chance.

This is intentional. The idea behind this is, "Hey you could fly this ship really well, why not just train up the requirements"

Also as a general addendum, there is still some visual work to be done, and the hover over for ships include dummy data. Not real data. All the groups and factions however have final data.

In my opinion the delay when you place your mouse over a ship and the background fades away so you can see this ship flying by is too long. If you doesnt know anything about this feature you won't be able to discover it.

The displacement seems to have some connection to the windowed and fullscreen modes, when i switch between them, the problem sometimes fixed itself and sometimes didn't.
Edit: more testing: OK so the problem always appears after going to windowed mode THEN resizing the window from the resolution it defaults to. going back to full screen usually fixes it

Also my Vargur Model is screwed up, seems to only be some kind of transparent outer skin, not sure whats going on there either

ok guys wtf is going on and why is everyone calling it isis!?!?!?!

edit: derp... i thought it was silly joke calling sisi isis... but it seems isis is short for the interbus ship identification system. Oops

Dig some digging and It's UI scaling. Defected and should get fixed. (thanks for raising this!) Also the Vargur model is not related to the ISIS, but I spoke to the CCP Vertex and he'll look into it.

Allright, fair enough about the masteries. However, ships that you cant actually fly gets highligted because you have the prereqs partially trained. It creates a false impression.

For example, if you have "transport ships" trained but only one race industrial 5, the ISIS still displays as if you could fly all 8 transports, when in reality you can only fly 2 (this isnt about masteries, its about prereq skills)

I'm getting ships being highlighted that I can't actually fly. I'm imagining that's a bug.

    Yep indeed.

Some ships have been authored incorrectly (being fixed), such as the Moroes.

While other groups don't have all of their prerequisite skills authored correctly so the groups are highlighting ships that shouldn't be available (because you have one of many prerequisite skills). Have some pending work to resolve this.

Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled for these things.

    Having not ready each post...

Any way to make the hover-over-ship sound not quite so annoying? Also, not really seeing a good reason for it to be there. It just adds yet one more thing causing me to turn my sound down/off at times...then forget it is down/off until later after i miss a critical piece of audio info.

What purpose does the sound serve? Really, to let you know you are hovering over a ship? And thats it? Sometimes, simpler is better. When will you (CCP) ever realize this?

Wish we had French imported baguettes Cry What they have here are yellowish bread frozen lumps they dare to call "baguette" in the supermarket.
