Conversely, you sure are eager to accuse other people of child abuse. I'd have to say, internet or not, that is a weighty charge. One that you should have thought better of prior to typing it.

Awesome Story

Great story, but leads to questions.

Why are you in such a crappy alliance ?

Why aren't you taking people who are actually willing to play
and create your own corp ?

Why aren't you removing that stupid idiot who calls himself Alliance Exec ?

1. I burned out on running my own alliance. The night that I closed up shop, a friend just happened to log into one of our various channels. We got to talking about things, and it turned out they get dec'd. Sure bro, I'll sign on for some pew Cool. First half of the war went alright ... but as with all industry corps, apparently "not mining" equals "not fun" and people start not logging in.

The original goal of bringing me in was to train up the guys to at least get comfortable with pew and losing ships (i.e. try making a corp in "the ways of old" with a bit of balance between pew and indy).

2 & 3. I had considered it ... but then I would get stuck back in running a damn alliance. Blink

I left that group after only a short while ... fell in again with a nullsec group who has been the best group of pilots I've ever flown with, but then RL stepped in and said "no nullsec" Cry

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I do find it ironic

That this thread

Has probably done more to scare new players who may be passing by

Into staying in whatever their "comfort-zone" is

Than in helping them come out of it

Go ahead and try to make me have great denial over my own personal experience with that phrase over a 48 year period of witnessing it's usage.

It's simply not going to happen.

I believe it referred to weakness, originally intended to characterize someone who was too flimsy to hold a spear and a shield. Probably Greek in origin, given their love of foot soldiering.

It's a bit suspect I think.

Just realised that your story was from seven months ago.

And there's me ... sitting around ... thinking about joining a corp.
Not knowing what corp to join, but prefferably highsec.
Not willing to obey the bullshit "GIMME YOUR API OR BUST".
There must be people out there knowing me and willing to take me.

Hey, if you misunderstand the meaning of a word, that's your problem, not everyone else's.

I could start taking unattributable offense to any word i want, doesn't mean others need accommodate my idiosyncrasies. Ironically, that kind of thinking is perfectly in-line with the running theme of people who are just too emotionally weak in real life to even play a gd video game without crying the entire time.

Talk about a running theme here.

Actually, you are wrong - it is *you* who misunderstand the meaning of the words:
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/limp-wristed
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effeminacy
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/limp-wristed

So yes, limp wristed is another way of implying a gay slur.

Hopefully, this will be enough to get this locked!

Yes, probably you are. A developer may provide the players with tools so they generate player content in hisec and not jsut in nullsec. And player driven PvE is generated by players so other players enjoy it as the creators are rewarded for creating the content.
It would help if you could provide an example of what you imagine
to be player created (driven?) PvE.

The way i understand you, there would be no need to create Player driven PvE,
because there's no reason to have players create "missions" that let's other players
go against NPCs.

Do you know how collectible card games work?

Picture players as deck holders, replace cards with NPC agents, their "attacks/defenses" with PvE missions and deliver those missions anonymously to players who can either succeed or fail the mission. Such misison allow the "deck holdr" to access new cards (i.e. new agents), "trigger" the agents so they can use single-shot special powers (which affect other players), et cetera.

Additionaly allow the "deck holder" to create the missions herself, using a limited supply of "mission points" and a price for every item/function added to the mission. Obviously check and balance it to hell and back to prevent abuse with too easy/too hard missions (albeit the average "deck holder" will need the mission to succeed so it won't make it impossible to the mission runner).

By the way, do you guess which company used to have one of such collectible cards games? CCP Hf in collaboration with White Wolf Inc.

It wouldn't even be new to them...
