I am planning skills for a freighter/jump freighter alt and, I am wondering if I should add Capacitor Management and Capacitor Systems Operation to the skill plan. Since this alt will only be flying freighters and jump freighters, there will be no modules to activate so, the only need for these skills is for warping and jumping.

Capacitor Systems Operation seems like it would help recharge the capacitor for both of these so, potentially be helpful (but pretty near the end of the skill queue after things like Warp Drive Operation).

As far as I am aware, jumping always consumes a fixed percentage of your capacitor to jump (with the amount controlled by Jump Drive Operation). I'm not sure if this is of your base capacitor capacity or, your real capacitor capacity (i.e. before or after the effect of Capacitor Management) so, I'm not sure if Capacitor Management is helpful or not for jumping. If it is a fixed percentage of your capacitor after it has been boosted by Capacitor Management then training Capacitor Management would mean that jumping would consume more energy but, it should also boost the amount recharged per second (since I think it is recharge time that is fixed, not J/s) and the amount you have left after a jump. If jumping consumes a fixed percentage of your capacitor before it is boosted by Capacitor Management then it is more useful.

For warping, I think the cost is a fixed amount per AU per kg (with this being a different amount for different ships) apart from the effects of Warp Drive Operation so, here both skills seem useful.

What do people think, are they worth training and, do people know whether jumping consumes a fixed percentage of your capacitor capacity before or after it is boosted by Capacitor Management?

Edit: Also, is there any/much value to training Tactical Shield Manipulation? Obviously freighters can't fit Adaptive Invul Fields but, is stopping damage leaking through shields to armor helpful or, is it better to let it hit armor so that shields can regenerate? (Not that it is really going to help much if you are being ganked)

Why not spend a day or two training both of them to level 3, just in case? It's not much, and it might be helpful in warps through huge systems.

Freighters: not needed. Get Warp Drive Operation to reduce cap need for warping, you will regen enough during the warp and aligning.
Jump freighters: If you're hauling to stations, not needed either. You will be jumping to stations and instantly docking, which refills your cap. If you're moving stuff to POSes, then get both.

Makes sense. I already have Warp Drive Op at 5. I guess for jump freighters I was thinking mostly about multiple jumps but, I guess I'd be doing these via a station so I can dock up and recharge anyway.

All my haulers are also Orca pilots. So they did train the capacitor skills.
