Tibus Heth at the Gates of Paradise

Perhaps at this very moment, Tibus Heth knocks at the Gates of Paradise. And the Damned, who forever and futilely swarm the gates that for each man are opened only once, scream at him their hate —

— Tyrant! But the Damned forget that the Scriptures say, "The enemies of the outside had to be defeated and the enemies of the inside controlled. Free Thought is the begetter of Disorder."

— Warmonger! But the Damned forget the stirring words of Mekioth Sarum, "War is not hell, far from it. War is beautiful. War is divine."

But the Serifam who guard the Gates of Paradise heed not the Damned. And when they look upon Tibus Heth, they will see a man washed in blood. Blood of the enemies of God. Blood of the Gallente. And perhaps they smile, and bow, and unlock the Gate.

O that Tibus Heth had brought on the war this wretched cluster so desperately needs! The war that brings clarity and purpose! Total war! The doomsdaying of planets! Perhaps even the End of Days taught in the Scriptures, when the Avenging Angels themselves shall take the field and the dirt of the earth shall embrace our decadence! Amarrians are to be patient, but I pray for these times to come every day.

So if Tibus Heth does look down upon us from the shiny golden towers of Paradise (whatever place be there for the righteous non-Amarr), thus let us honor his memory. Amen. Amarr Victor.

Your god tends to not admit non-believers.

I could have sworn accepting the faith and being converted was one of those little things on the path to paradise.

There's plenty of divine paradise here in New Eden though, for those willing to go grasp it.

Should he have died, and should there be a divine gate admitting him, I feel the former Executor would be dismayed to be greeted by those other than his Ancestors. Better to have suffering with those one loves than hedonism with strangers. Whether loved or hated, the man taught us a great many things, and should be respected for it. I hope that he can find an easy rest.

And, I must agree with the Lady of Blades, above. Heth-haan, or any Caldari, could never rest easy in a paradise not made by his own hands and hard work.

May his Ancestors not know him. May the Winds scour his name away, wherever it is written.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

I would rather burn for eternity than share heaven with Heth.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!

So what you're saying is that unbelievers - which is what Tibus Heth was, by the way, because he in no way worshiped the Amarrian God - are welcome in the kingdom of heaven?

Sure is heresy in here.

That lesser, non-Amarr bloodlines might ascend to heaven should hardly come as a surprise; many an Amarrian master has whipped his Minmatar slave expecting to see him again in heaven. And likewise, those former slaves of many generations now returned to the Republic may yet taste of heaven would they keep the faith, as some do.

To expect that someone not of the religion would reach heaven is a speculative interpretation, it is true, which is why my original post included qualifiers such as if and perhaps. But know that the Amarr religion is neither one of mere intellectual assent to some propositions of faith nor one of empty ritual; it values doers, paladins, warriors; as the Prophet Anoyia said, we are to toil all our days in glorious service. And Tibus Heth was a doer, a righteous doer.

Only ignorance or little wit can excuse that opinion. I'll remember that you're a Jaijii and assume the former.

Truly an odd perspective to praise someone thus for abject failure.

The failure thing can often be mitigated by a glorious heroic death, say, piloting that ugly Titan into Gallente Prime himself.

But vanishing into space without so much as a farewell suicide speech?

Surely the gates of your paradise are made of sterner things.

Its good to see mercy and forgiveness haven't lost their appeal....

For one thing alone I thank Executor Heth.

He made the Federation stronger.

His most "Caldari" of policies demonstrated the necessity for a more robust posture against her enemies both within and without.

Hungry for souls, are we?

Leave the Caldari to deal with Caldari problems, please. That includes problems of religion.

Shut up, traitors!

He is alive, and we must save him!

Ixiris,

heresy, as the late Lord Karris' mother would say, comes in many shades. Crimson and dark and rarely accurately reflected. And you are certainly the last to understand, Ixiris. It grieves me to see your vulgar face almost everywhere.

I wish you all the best, Ms Kim. May your passion and bravery not be in vain.

Tough cookies. I'll put my "vulgar" face in as many places as possible if it grieves a self-important, prancing Amarr cast-off like you. Or is there enough courage behind the thin veneer of nobility you wear to actually do something about the things in your life that upset you?

I'm very easy to find in the unlikely event that there is.

Thank you! I can clearly understand now why His Majesty takes pride on his personal Gallentean popstar!

To be fair, even we fuzzy bunny types are wondering why exactly Heth would get a seat at the table. Whether or not you believe there is a place for virtuous pagans in Heaven to study at God's side, I highly doubt Heth would fit most of our descriptions. Those who believe in those things tend to believe they are only virtuous pagans who lived righteously even though they did not know the Word of the Lord.
