Due to CCP's ToS, there are no alts in Eve Online.

You cannot say you are an alt of someone else or say that "so-and-so" alt is mine.

So, Eve is just doing great since there are not any alts in this game.

This. Truth be told, I hate the term "alt" since that doesn't really compute in this game.

Just like there is no "main". You have a specific pilot. Market pilot, freighter pilot. Cyno pilot etc.

But I still stand by my above comment about not having multiple accounts.

Viva la social interaction and all that.

Eve would be much more interesting. Reputation would have actual importance as people could not hide behind alts. Security status would actually have consequences. People would have to work together more. I think it would be a positive gameplay wise, but even if it were possible, would never happen since CCP would lose lots of subs.

Due to ToSgate and SOMER this game hasn't really turned out like I thought, so I've canceled my third account and am down to two. If I can figure out how to do without a neutral scout for wardecs, I'll likely cancel that one too. Eve still fun, and the best mmo there is, but I think I'd rather save my money for the next Splinter Cell or GTA. So that is 3 alts for me down from 6 that I had. From a personal perspective I'm close to seeing what Eve would be like without alt.

It would just be Chribba.

Don't you know we are all his alts?

I thought we were all Mittani alts?

The Mittani and Chribba are my alts.

If the old statistics are still true (~2 accounts for every player)...

- EVE would have half the population it has now (maybe less since some people would quit if they can't have their alts).
- The "metagame" would be nowhere near as murky or interesting.
- Professional gankers would still ply their trade
- logistics and moving would be HELLISH.

I have 3 passports. Seriously. Birth. Another country through naturalization and a parent being from there. And a third one by marriage to a citizen. Although I don't usually tell the embassies this when I apply for renewal. Dual citizenship is all they ask about, dual citizenship is what they get :)

Logistics would be HELLISH?! hahahah holy Christ we would wittiness the biggest indi-bear melt down threadnought ever.

It would make T20 and Blink threadnoughts look like short stories.

It would crash eve-o and roll it back to 2003.

Not to mention all the cyno slaves you would have to make your noobs train first.

  • Would the mighty Phaser Inc, Titans4U, Guiding Hand Social Club, etc. scams have happened ?
  • Would Band of Brother still be active ?
  • Would there be so many corp thieve/gankers ?
  • Would there be so many “Pirates” and Suicide gankers if being a pirate would mean no access to Hi-sec trade hubs ? There might be low-sec trade hubs but I can hardly imagine the chaos.

I wonder if we EvE players would still have such unethical behavior if we would be facing the consequences of their actions by making it impossible to change our identity (scam people, buy 200m SP character, profit).

Perhaps this has already been discussed but after a quick search I didn’t find anything.

it would just be me after killing the mittanis cyno ibis

Reputation would mean more but beside that, it's hard to really tell what the results would really be.
