Mission Mymidon fitting question

I've been back in EVE for a couple of weeks or so. I didn't really do missions when I previously played (did a bit of Rifter wolf-packing and mainly low sec mining).

My sp are mainly in Minmatar, but I also trained up to fly Gallente to BC. I found this in my hangar when I re-subbed (no idea what I was using it for prior to unsubbing a year or two ago);

Stasis Webifier I
Fleeting Warp Disruptor I
10MN MicroWarpdrive I
2x Kinetic Deflection Amplifier I

Damage Control I
2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Reactor Control Unit I
800mm Reinforced Steel Plates I

I've completed most of the career mission in the tutorial (except the adv military, need to work on standings with Gallente Navy), and started to run missions - looking to run level 2 & 3 for now, but I'm finding I need to warp out for repairs to armour (when it gets to about 50%).

Any ideas for a better fit ? - I'm a bit skint at the moment, ideally I'd like to go down the Hurricane route but I'm down to my last 40 mill and don't really want to drop below that in case of emergency ship replacements

thanks

Your major problem is that the attached is a PvP fit. I'll go through the changes from low slots to high.

Low
The Myrm has a bonus to armor rep amount, and you're buffer tanking it - this isn't necessarily a sin in general, but it certainly is in a PvE scenario. Remove both the plates and put one or two armor repairers on, plus mission specific hardeners (you should be able to easily omni tank a L3 in a Myrm anyway, but mission specific is best).

Mid
Get rid of the kinetic shield amps. It is almost always complete failure to tank both armor and shield, and it certainly is in a PvE situation.

Replace all the mids with cap rechargers to taste (these will allow your armor repper(s) to run for longer), put an omnidirectional tracking link (for drone tracking) or two and maybe throw on an AB for good measure. The mids are largely up to you depending on how you're wanting to fight.

High
Again this is pretty much up to you. Some people just put drone link augmentors in and no guns, but for PvE I'd suggest putting whatever you're best skilled in, as the Myrm has no damage bonus for turrets. Maybe a drone link augmentor and 5 pulses/rails/ac's/arties (don't bother with blasters unless you have an MWD, and even then I wouldn't bother).

I'd probably opt for arties. Rigs to taste really - either more damage or more tank (no specific resist rigs).

Hope that helps.

This one time, I like, totally did some stuff.

thanks man, that does help a lot - time to go play with fitting tools and then sort through that mass of modules I've been meaning to tidy away to the market ;)

This is a Myrm I put together for a friend. It is similar to what I flew back when I flew a Myrm for missions.

Obviously you can use projectiles instead of rails, and fit T2 wherever you can vs T1. But this is a solid fit I have used with great success.

Forum ate my post :(

Try a passive shield tanked myrm.

Shield Power Relays(and maybe a power diagnostics unit if needed) in the lows, 1 or 2 invulnerability fields and a photon scattering field in the mids, and autocannons in the highs(drop one for a drone link augmentor if you want one). This will be pretty overtanked for lvl 3s and super overtanked for lvl2s, so you can play around with dropping mid slots for omni's to up DPS. Also, use core defense field purgers for rigs. This is what I used for lvl 3s before upping to a dominix when i unlocked lvl 4's, and i never had issues.

If your training is mostly Minmatar, you could consider scrapping the Myrm and getting a Hurricane. Either shield tank it:

You could also drop the Myrmidon in favor of a Dominix, as it actually does just about everything (mission-related) better than a Myrmidon. This would easily do L3s:

If you have to stay with the Myrm (or you really, really want to for no particular reason), the aforementioned armor fits look reasonable. Here's a sample shield fit:

You could also swap the artillery for ACs, but I like being able to kit a bit and let drones do their thing up close. I've also toyed with laser builds (preferable if you're in Sansha/Blood Raider space):

Also works with HPLIIs and Scorch if you happen to have that trained up.

Any of these are going to be more than sufficient for L3s. Which is the best for you is pretty dependent on where your skills are allocated and which faction you're running missions against.

thanks guys, great info - been playing with fitting tool in EVEHQ rather than working most of the afternoon Blink

think I've got a fit for my Myrm that I'm happy with - we'll see once I buy and fit it tonight - I'll post back my results :)

Sticking with the Myrm for now as I have it and it's insured, - my current training plan has me training on Min & Gallente for BCs,,BSs, Destroyers & cov ops, with Min only Assault Frigates along with their indicated certificates - will take me 51 days.

in the meantime my plan is to mission to pay for the skillbooks needed.

Tempted to focus on Min ships, but that would only knock 7 days off that plan, so may as well stick with it :)

re-fitted Rosie last night with this;

Quote:
[Myrmidon, rosie updated]

5x 650mm Artillery Cannon I

3x Barton Reactor Capacitor Recharger I
2x Omnidirectional Tracking Link I

Type-D Power Core Modification: Capacitor Power Relay
Armor Explosive Hardener I
Voltaic Nanite EM Hardener I
2x Small Armor Repairer I
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I

and got on a lot better - was a pretty cheap re-fit too at less than half a million isk - which I more than made back on a few L2 missions.

I have 3 x Ogre I out to take out any nearby ships, whilst I engage distant targets with my arty's - they were exploding as quick as I could target them.

I'm very happy - shields got down to about 50% at one point, but otherwise unscathed.

I'll seek out another L2 agent with a L3 nearby as I need to build up my rep before any L3 agents will talk to me.

Will play with EVEHQ fitting tool again to see if I could give something up to run some AB as Rosie was painfully slow getting to wrecks to loot them (I know loot isn't great, but when you are skint every little helps P )

With LVL 2/3 I would think generally you may do better with a flight of 5 hammerheads vs 3 Ogres.

You would. Your other option would actually be a mixed flight of 2 Ogres, 2 Hammerheads, and 1 Hobgoblin. Using 3 Ogres is sub-optimal no matter how you cut it.

I'd drop the second Omnidirectional (these are commonly used with sentry drones to improve their tracking, lights and mediums track very well without).

Also make sure you select the correct hardeners according to the NPC damage type.

Finally consider rigging the Myrm to improve it's performance or to overcome fitting issues.

thanks again guys, very useful info - I need to train my rigging skills up.

interesting info about the drones - I'll swap some around.

i marked your mistake. while downgrading works with shield booster in same cases, its a bad idea with armor repairer.
1 med armor repairer repairs 4 times the amount of a small one.

nearly capstable without any skills
and i realy suggest some rigs, they are quite cheap. also upgrade to at least meta2
meta hardner require less cpu, meta2-4 cost roughly the same, same for the energized adaptives
meta 4 repairer should be pretty cheap too
meta 2 weapons arent mush either
