I am also from Vegas (and moving back, next year.... damn the Army), and I can confirm that if you were to do that, you could probably work out a deal with someone.

Well, the other parts of my post still stand. My "pass the hat" idea was more brilliant than others gave me credit for.
And I really will see all the EVE Vegas folks, next year, as I am finally coming home after 10 long years working for the government.

Last year it was on the first weekend of October which coincided with my birthday. My roommates were plotting on buying me a plane ticket to Vegas and the event that weekend, but they don't play Eve and couldn't also get the time off to join me. So I told them thank you for the thought and stayed here in San Francisco with them for my 40th birthday instead. Going to these things can be fun, the CCP at GDC party was great, but sadly none of my RL friends play Eve and it would be weird to celebrate my birthday with a bunch of strangers and people I only vaguely know from the game.

If there's one city on the planet who knows how to use airconditioning, it's Vegas. It's not uncommon to be sweating your ass off outside and be completely freezing when walking into one of the hotels. Always have a jacket with you in Vegas would be my advice.
