Eve-Online TOS and TMC

I was reading the TOS the other day and saw this interesting information:

"10. You may not market, sell, advertise, promote, solicit or otherwise arrange for the exchange or transfer of items in the game or other game services unless it is for in-game sales of in-game services or items.

11. The advertisement or sale of out of game goods and services not directly related to EVE online is prohibited. The only out of game goods and services which can be advertised or sold are the following: EVE forum signature creation, website and third party voice communication server hosting or EVE Time Codes."

This means that themittani.com is not allowed to buy articles from writers.
So why is CCP letting them do it?

Let's also note that EN24 does the same. I'm pretty sure this has been covered before.

Pretty sure TMC sells GTC? (Correct me if I am wrong).

Also, TMC isn't just for Eve. Its a gaming news website not just aimed at Eve Online. Sure it might have sprouted from it but even so...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

This is so far in the really-really obvious category that I'm absolutely confident TMC has permission.

I agree, but they pay for non-eve related articles with ISK which is a violation of the TOS....
I wasn't aware EN24 did, but I suppose it makes sense, even so this should be clarified by CCP.

I actually never knew that... And if it's true then they must have been givem permission to do so... They probably wouldn't have lasted as long as they have if not...

Edit: Just finished reading the second link. Huh go figure they do pay with isk... Either way they must have been given express permission otherwise they wouldn't be doing it / have been doing it this long.

Actually sales of any articles are forbidden, though for simplification I picked out non-eve related articles. I did file a petition to find out what could and could not be bought/sold and while I cannot quote what they told me I am sure you could guess.

Fair I guess.

Although I'm sure they would have know about this before now.

And I have to admit, I like TMC articles, not all of them, but they are nearly always a good read, and the debates are fantastic.

Not to mention, the writers of the Eve topics do play Eve and have to do all the ground work in the game itself so technically they are being paid isk to play eve and be in game so they're "technically" not breaking rules in regard to Eve articles...

Eve news 24 so bad.

The 24 refers to how many hours it takes them to get their news after TMC has posted it, and done a 10x better article.

Oh and they have reverted to posting opinion pieces and reposting blogs. I doubt they even read the cr*p gevlon goblin puts up. 'ganking takes l33t pvp skills', 'look at mah killboard, i'm elite pvp', 'everyone just hates me cos i'm so l3333t and their arguments are invalid'. It's like watching a slow descent into insanity.

And thats why TMC is 100000 times better than EN24.

and that's also why en24 is the worst RMTer atm and riverni should be perma banned.

Both sites will pay ISK for articles, and they make cash from advertising...

It's the only form of RMT that's allowed...

Somer Blink employees get paid in ISK and real life chunks of dough and they get some special edition scorpions . . .

Seriously though: Posting in stealth 'Feed TMCs ad revenue wallet'.

Yes, somer employees get paid in ISK, for updating wallet status/posting contracts, both of which are done IN-GAME and therefore are not a violation of EULA/ToS.

Doesn't explain the personal ISK commission they get for selling GTCs. Also I like your selective quoting.
