Scammers are exploiting the biomass tool in eve...

All they have to do is create a alt, scam for a few days, then biomass the alt and repeat. It is an exploit because it is counteracting both the bounty system (in part created to help identify known scammers) and the block tool. I have nothing against scamming itself, but i grow real tired with having to continously block, block, block 24/7. Furthermore this exploit is turning a skilless/riskless system into an either greater skilless/riskless system.

Show me on the EULA/TOS where counteracting the bounty system or the block tool is considered an offense. As long as you're not wiping off negative security status, biomass all you want.

what's the difference between using a scam alt to avoid metagame consequences for your actions, including bounties, and using a forum alt to avoid the same?

I know what you mean. The feeling of having this amount of pretty dumb spam is annoying. The fact that it's here to stay is sad for a game where high level scams, corp thefts, ponzi schemes and whatnot are allowed. I admire the effort and ingenuity of all meta-gaming and scams in the game and the fact that they are allowed. It's a core element of the game. But spam is another thing - whether you milk some ISK out of it or not, it still can't be considered a scam but merely simple spam.

There is a temporary solution, however. Minimize tradehub local and 90% of the problem is already solved. This simple fact that players should avoid using a game's feature (like a chat in an MMO) in pretty important and frequently visited systems because of pure spam is a good sign of bad game design.

Because on forums we have nothing to gain, but while contributing to the proper discourse of discussion and growth.

I think the logic is something like EvE is spaceships but forums are e-peens. Or something like that.

i have nothing to gain if i choose to start suicide ganking pods on jita gate, but i can't biomass the thrasher alt

besides the possible gain, this is one game, and we post with ingame characters. you're still avoiding ingame consequences by rolling a disposable alt for forum posting, as with scammers avoiding ingame consequences by rolling scammer alts

you're using an alt to avoid ingame consequences for your metagame actions, yes, as do scammers

Yes they are.

But while they are exploiting it, it's not an exploit until CCP says otherwise.

But what I have to ask myself is why so many people spend so much time in trade hubs (with local not minimized, no less) that this actually becomes annoying enough to start threads about? No one should be in Jita for any longer than it takes to grab what they came for and get out again. It astounds me that people actually hang out there.

Lines like that prove why forum alts even need to be a thing. What actions would someone wanna take out on me or the other alt-using posters while we literally cannot do anything here to warrant such in-game harassment or action. I wasn't aware market scamming or suicide ganking on the forums was a thing.

Only thing I could imagine folk here wanting to take in-game action against a forum alt owner is for merely having a different opinion than them. Which says quite a bit about their personal character and maturity level.

That's why I post with my main. If people don't like it, they can suck my 28 billion isk bounty.
