Running MWD and AB at the same time

Hi.

I saw some fits with both afterburner and micro warp drive fitted. Do those players use both at the same time or one after another? What skill should I learn to be able to run them both simultaniosely?

no, you can only use 1 at a time.

dual prop mods help you get in close fast (MWD) and then keep up orbit transversal without sig bloom (AB) or totally losing speed boosts if they hit you with a short point (as warp scram kills MWD).

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Vel's explanation might be a little hard to understand for new player (no offense Val!).

Microwarp Drives will greatly increase speed, but the enhance the signature radius of your ship. Making it faster for people to lock onto you, easier to hit with their weapons, etc. It essentially makes you're ship larger than what it really is.

Afterburners increase speed, not as much as a MWD, but they also don't increase signature radius.

As Val states, people will use MWD to close to their optimal engagement distance, then use the afterburner to mitigate the damage as guns have a harder time tracking the faster objects (since your sig radius is normal), and missile damage is applied based on target speed/sig radius versus explosion radius and explosion velocity.

Additional, and again as Val states, Warp Scramblers will shut down your MWD as well we preventing you from warping off. Where a Warp Disruptor will only prevent you from warping off. Afterburner can be used with either WS or WD applied to your ship, but a webifier will slow down your velocity (by a percentage) no matter what you're using.

Another reason for dual-prop fits is that most ships cannot permanently run a microwarp drive, as they are absolute murder on capacitor.
