New player here. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm curious about the regional demographic information of Eve players; percentage of players from certain countries, ages, gender. That sort of thing. Is there any big data type collection regarding Eve? Even on stuff like in-game economic transactions, for instance? Thanks.

Well we tend to be mainly from the US, the British Isles, Russia, Australia, or another European country (in that order I believe), we're probably mid 20s to 30s, have a job, have a degree, and 95% of the time we're guys regardless of character gender.

At least that's as far as I remember.

You'll have to employ some slightly clever googling to get more concrete data but rest assure CCP does have it and has published it before.

Thanks. I'll hit Google, then. If they've published them before, it shouldn't take too much hunting around.

Got the one I think you mean from 2008 right here. There doesn't appear to be anything after that. And the 95-96% number for male players comes from CCP CMO David Reid. Good to know. Was hoping there was a little more balanced gender distribution, but there you go.

Not sure if this is really what your looking for but this gives you an idea of when there are the most players online and so on.

What is it about Eve players and our love of StatPorn?! Our RP heritage I suppose.

I think this may be more what your looking for: http://eveboard.com/statistics

Another of St.Chribbas creations. Interesting that it puts the male/ female split at 66/34% ???

There isn't any recent data that I can recall. The only thing that might fit that bill is after the CSM elections there is sometimes some info on country breakdowns of voters. The issue with that is that you have to make the assumption that players that vote in the CSM elections are representative of the player base.

Another issue is that CCP don't even know the full picture about ownership of alt accounts. I think part of the reason behind the attempt to have a single sign on and email verification is to help in that direction.

Final thing I can think of, there is a site called MMODATA iirc that might have some stuff not already mentioned.

Pretty sure that that's character gender, not player gender.

Proprietary information. Companies tend to hold it close to their vest. You will not find the information.

I think it would be tough to even see the attraction of Eve if you weren't a little interested in the numbers. For myself, I don't feel I can get a handle on the particular until I have at least some tools to examine broader context. Thanks for the resources. I have some time tonight and tomorrow to look through them. Should be fun.
