Why did they change the Nighthawk to a drake model? What is the reasoning behind this, it was one of my favorite ships in the game :( also after just releasing a navy version of the drake why make another ship with that hull? I would have rather seen a completely new hull then a rehash of the drake. I'm sure I am not the first one to bring this up but its a sad day...

combat CS gets combat BC model.
it's a no brainer that they should have done years ago.

all CS are combat CS now.

Missile ships get missile model, drone ship gets drone model, gun ship gets gun model.

Not rocket surgery.

My point is that it has been this way, why change the model, sure maybe it should have been but its not and now we have 3 ships with the same hull. Though I guess that means the Vulture is going to stay a Ferox hull then?

I don't really get it either? What was wrong with the Ferox model and why does the Drake model 'make more sense as a command ship'?

think of the Eos , its getting the myrm model, not the brutix one, since, you know, drone links/etc

makes more sense on a myrm than on a brutix

The command ships were created before the tier 2 hulls were.

The prophecy was a tanky gun boat with no damage bonuses. The Harby became a gun boat all about damage.
The brutix was a glass cannon gun boat. The Myrm became a drone boat with epic tank.
The ferox was a rail boat. The drake became the missile boat.
The cyclone was one of those weird mixes of everything, missiles, guns, drones. The hurricane became a well defined gun boat.

Some of these have changed slightly over the years, but it's clear that these newer hulls were well suited to match with the two styles of command ship each race had.

And really, did we need 4 Brutix hulls with only 1 myrm?

Now it's 3 and 2 :P

So just so I understand, let me sum this up...

Boy I love all the new things we are getting, but why oh why did you change the appearance of one of my internet spaceships?

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Yes. It would be one thing if they changed it slightly or updated its look, its another thing to change it too a completely different model. Since we have zero visual customization over the ships we fly changing the way it looks is a big deal, especially someone who put a lot of real time training into flying that ship.

They will likely be changed again as CCP starts their initiative to make specialized hulls look more specialized... more than just changing the paint job.

That's going to take quite some time though, and will also likely involved some more experiments with moveable hull geometry, at least in some cases.

Players have been asking for this change since the Tier 2 BCs have been added.
It's only now that CCP has gotten around to addressing that request.

Sure roles have changed since the original requests, but that is the nature of things.

Why even bother with changing the hulls if they are going to make unique hulls for them later on? Seems like a waste of time too me.

Why didn't they just make a new hull for it. I mean I'm ok with it but it seems a little cheap. They had a chance to make some really cool new hull models then again maybe they saving those for later on new ships coming out.
