When a group of people bands together for a specific goal in space, it is very likely that they create a fleet. Mining fleets, roaming fleets, camping fleets, attack fleets, incursion fleets and welping fleets, just to name a few names that spring up in our community, all strive to do be as effective as possible towards their intended function. A fleet needs a doctrine and focus; some ships work better in combination than others. That takes planning and that is where this weeks Featured Fansite comes in.

http://fleet-up.com/ is a tool that allows you to manage operations, fittings and fleets. It is operated by Wacktopia and has been active for over a year. The tool is built around groups, which are either created or joined when a user has registered with the site. Tasks and management can be delegated by the creator of the group and each member of it can see fittings that have been decided; what hulls should be flown (and whether the user can fly said hulls, and at what skill level) is shown; a fleet tracker map that shows the location of members of the fleet, and many other details that are essential for fleet management.

This tool is tailored towards all players, rookies and veterans alike. Share your fits, make shopping lists for modules and hulls, schedule the time and place of the fleet, and make sure you have the most amount of fun with the least amount of hassle. The Fleet-Up tool will make fleet organizing that much easier, as well as accessible for fleet members. Go check it out and read more about the features of the tool, and give Wacktopia a pat on the back or a forum like if you see him around.

There are many more Fansites that might hold exactly what you need to assist you in EVE Online or list the information you never knew you were missing. Take a look; it is almost guaranteed you will find something to your liking. Alternatively, check out the last Fansite that was featured in this thread. The featured Fansite is picked at random every two weeks to showcase the important, community driven work these content creators bring to EVE Online.

Used this in an alliance, and is extremely useful for keeping track of fleet members, along with storing fleet fits and other things. Only downside of this tool is that you must keep your ingame browser at all times for the tracking feature to work.

Fleet-up has been absolutely essential to Noir., and we're incredibly thankful for Wacktopia's work on Fleet-up. The ability to show how effectively you can fly ships and doctrines has been an incredible tool for all our alliance members, especially those in Noir. Academy.

I'm glad you're getting mentioned, Wack, because you deserve it!

Thanks so much for the feature, CCP.

I have to say that you are really awesome on the community front. The API and data dump have meant I was able to create Fleet-Up and take it into areas that would have been impossible without that data. The community team have also been really great via email and of course this feature has spurred me on to do more development on the service.

Thanks again!

Awesome :) Yeah it is a shame about the browser requirement. There was some talk before about adding fleet data into the API. If that happens then we can say goodbye to the IGB requirement for fleet tracking! :)

Sure, let me give you piwates my stats, the stats of my corp and alliance, what ships we can fly, what modules we can fit, a history of how we like to fit our fleets and just for the fun of it how many of us are in fleet, where we are and how we are fit at the moment we get griefed. Sounds like a winer to me! Lol.

Well I'd imagine you'd use it when you don't care about other people having intel so much, and then not use it for sensitive ops.

Like if you take out an armor BS gang what are they going to know?

"They have a domi gang at such and such location, they have T2 tank fitted and some of them have T2 sentries but not all of them."

Because you don't need a fancy program to get a bit of intel like that.

Well Noir is relatively harmless in the grand scheme of things, and any PL spais in Noir probably have the intel from the PL spais in your alliance anyway so *shrug*

Just create a private group for your own fits.

dont worry, we're terrible

Fleet-up has become more and more central to how we run operations and fleet doctrines since Wacktopia used us as guinea pigs for it a year ago. It's just an amazing tool, cant speak highly enough of it.

I don't geek-speak too well, but this is a concern I have just looking at the face of it. You can always cancel an API, but you're only going to know to do that after you've been thoroughly mistreated by a group of "well informed" individuals.

I wonder how trust worthy these wacktopians are....?

Sorry, didn't get past the first howler, "When a Group of people", plural, many, more than one, "bands", no sir, that should be 'band' .

It should read, "When a group of people band together for ..."

Does your Editor take the day off when you publish material to the public facing internet for your Investors and Customers to see?

Really though, CCP should and could be delivering this kind of in-game data to CEO's and Fleet Commanders, after all, the information is already in a database entry some place, and a small change to one of the API's and fleet hook-ups could be so much more effective, simple and controlled. No wait, they are working on Walking in Stations, when there are no stations for the little dollies to walk into!

Innovation like this brings customers and keeps them, giving more fancy doo-dads to low sec pirates so they can plunder High Sec with Immunity using low sec rules does not endear longevity to newcomers.

One group, two groups three groups. Despite the meaning of word 'group', it is clearly a singular word. You had nothing better to say?
