Protection money - opposite of bounty

I propose Protection Money (PM) system to EVE. Protection Money would give bounty to anyone who ganks you.

Here's example how this would work:
If I had Protection Money and someone killed me then 20% of this kill value is transferred from Protection Money to gankers bounty divided to all participants.

This way alliances/corporations/capsuleers could have protection money. Protection money would be automatic bounty giving system.

If someone has all three PMs alliance/corporation/capsuleer PM and he/she is killed then first is used capsuleer PM then corporation PM and finally alliance PM.

Protection Money would allow to show who we love when bounty shows who we hate. Protection Money would be visible like bounty and anyone could give anyone protection money.

There could also be list that shows top alliance/corporation/capsuleer Protection Moneys.

Comments are welcome for my idea.

The problem here is that people don't care if they have a bounty or not. This system would not prevent ganking or other kinds of killing at all.

Seriously, most pvp'ers just like having a bounty on them because it looks cool.
They are not actually afraid of bounties because
1. as pvp'ers they'll die eventually anyway, whether or not the killers get paid for the kill makes no difference
2. The current bounty system is boring and there really isn't much actual bounty hunting going on.

Yeah, this would probably encourage ganking so pirates can get bigger bounties.

I propose a "Stupidity Money" system, or SM. Every time you lose a ship, regardless of how or when, you get taxed 20% of the market value of the ship. If you lose more then one ship a day, the tax doubles every time you lose a ship. The money is then randomly paid out to a random newbie, to add to the "new player experience".

Well there is already a base 60% tax for losing T1 ships and a base 95 ish % tax for losing T2 ships. Since you have to buy them back again...

I have once used bounty system after I was ganked. I placed bounty to all people in my kill mail. Over time I enjoyed it alot when I received notification that my ganker has been killed by an enemy of my enemy. I have also placed bounty to people who destroyed my customs office.

Protection Money (PM) would create automatic system that do same thing I did.

I like this. But it should not only be suicide ganks. Every Shiploss should add to the killers bounty <3

My Condor costs less than that module!

Just a notification to all of the carebears in this thread and those about to post:

Most PvPers couldn't care less about having a bounty. It's actually kind of neat. Bounties in no way deter PvPers - you might as well spend that money elsewhere.

This would actually encourage more PvP and ganking to see how high bounties people could rack up for the lulz - sort of like a point system.

I was thinking this exact same thing.

If I could kill you to get a bounty put on me, I'd no longer need to troll the forums!!!!

Don't limit this to suicide ganks...

As for the idea... It's not a bad idea, I just don't know what you expect the result of this will be.

....

This is not how a "protection money racket" works.

The way it works is;
- A gang "asks" for money from a business owner.
- That money is to "ensure" that the gang's footsoldiers don't "test the durability" of the business owner's merchandise (and maybe offer protection from other gangs if he/she is lucky).
- Business owner gives money as he just saw his neighbor's business set on fire for refusing.
- Business owner incorporates the "protection money" into his overhead (see: bottom line).
- Business owner laughs and shuts door on the naive, "plucky" hero that shows up out of nowhere wearing nothing but a loincloth... then listens through the door as said hero is pulverized by a couple of steroid-infused "Lemmys" with lead pipes.

When I talked about gank in OP I ment any PvP kill not just suicide gank.

And that's all it does, gives you a notification when the person with the bounty has been killed. I can pretty much guarantee they were not killed because they had a bounty on them. They were pvp'ers and all pvp'ers die, repeatedly. It's a part of their lives and they don't think too much of it.

Placing a bounty on the person that killed you is like tipping your waiter.

That makes this sound like a good idea.
