Stealth Projection Field

There are already stealth projection structures in the game's in-mission statics.

I propose we create functioning versions of them:

They would be POS modules that would turn all friendly ships invisible, protecting mining operations.

These ships would be untargetable by out of alliance individuals until the projection array is destroyed.

A typical "attack" would be as follows:

Warp to the pos shoot up the module,

warp to the belt, and shoot up the miners.

Very simple and only slightly more difficult than it is now.

A typical "defense" would be as follows:

Everyone in the alliance gets a mail that their projector is under attack, and safes up.

This has benefits to both sides, attackers will always get at least one killmail (the projector), so their time will no longer be wasted. Defenders can now let everyone participate rather than forcing people to be scouts for hours at a time.

As Doc Fury would say,

Features and ideas discussion ---->

In all seriousness though it is an interesting idea but makes mining too safe and I don't like that.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Mining in Null should not be safer than mining in empire which is what this would do. "Thou shalt not f**k with risk vs reward".

I like this idea, however it should apply to stealth in local only, so mining fleets could equip a mid slot item to turn off local and they wouldn't see me and I wouldn't see them until they turned it back on.

Like stealth but not. I would like it called the Infinitator 5000 Covert Mining Cloak I.

There should also be an Infinitator 6000 Miner Ganking Cloak I - which basically does the same thing but to PvP ships and requires Carebear Level 1 only.

Its true...look at my bio! He's out hunting the cats Smile

As a foot note, I dont believe this to be a good idea at all. This would be game breaking in a sense of its far too safe. Once people got a mail saying it was under attack it would mean everyone POS's up and then you would be in the same situation...

Also, modules cant be activated whilst cloaked can they? So it would be a moot point to have it for mining ops as you say...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

I wouldn't mind some kind of remote cloaking mechanic, but not like this.

Normally I'd tell you to post in the F&I forum, but this idea is so terrible you shouldn't even bother.

Sure, but as with regular cloaking devices, you will not be able to interact with anything while it's active.

So that mining fleet would obviously not be using it since that would be rather counter-productive.

Obviously you are right. We could go a step further and have a module like this that targets any ship you wish. New Order agents could arrive in a belt and immediately cloak miners and make them unable to mine. Of course since it is just a field surrounding the ship, this would not be considered an attack and Concord would look the other way.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

No. Just things that would massively break the game.

How about a ship or module (or heck, one of those new deployables) that generates a limited stealth bubble, making the effect extremely local? Let's assume it would disengage all other modules, introduce targetting delay, and prevent warp just like a regular cloak would. I like the idea of such a mechanic but I wouldn't want to worsen the phenomena of AFK cloaking. While in a fleet context you have to deal with people that eventually will need to log off breaking total immunity, but a multiboxer could hide his entire fleet in your local in a safe and go shopping or whatever. There are probably way more implications then I can come up with though.

They should make the "big red button" a module for the ship. Push the button and your targets blow up. That's what everyone wants anyway.
