So why did CCP nerf the hyperion?

The Hype is a beast now.

For small gangs, it can be the linchpin damage dealer / damage sponge.

For missions, it can field rails and a full flight of sentry's.

It's rep bonus is far from useless, in PvE is allows you to use minimal low slots for tank. For PvP it can brawl well above it weight.

BUT....

It's not a "large fleet" ship, so tends to not get the press that the Mega gets.

For solo and small gangs, it's superior to the Mega. As fleet size increases, then the Mega or Domi is a better way to go. This is by design, btw, not every ship in EVE is good at everything.

the hype owns, just not as a large fleet ship (but it doesn't stop me from taking it out sometimes!)

srsly doe its a beast, and i wish there was a t2 variant that used the hull because its <3

Hyperions actualy seem far more common in Low than Megas... Not realy based on anything, I just never really seem to see Megas, but kill lots of Hyps and use them occasionaly.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

Can you picture what numbers capital rep would reach with this bonus added to the rep bonus of the repping ship?


Ones that would suffice in keeping them alive long enough to get in blaster range. Sure they might be tough nuts to crack with reps on them, but they're absolute mothers when you're trying to catch anything slower than a cap.

You need to fly them more. BS are perfectly fine in PvP.

This.

Local reps are a ****ing stupid bonus, only really suitable for PvE. Until CCP wises up and realizes that it's not a real bonus, people generally won't use the ships with it.

That, and the Megathron is awesome.



Local Reps are an awesome bonus for solo/smallgang. Its just not used for fleet work where you have logi.

Noone uses the ships with it? Oh sorry i must have imagined people using Myrms,Sleipners,Maels,Incursus,Brutix.......

That's two years old. After that the Hype has been actually buffed, but the problem is that there aren't idiots engaging you at hard tackle range in their HM Drakes. People know exactly what a Hyperion can tank, and will bring the blob of appropriate size and kill you without a single loss.
