CCP now you're working on EVE again, can you give the Jovians a poke?

Seriously, this is a dormant storyline that has so much potential.

The Dev's arty's should be targeted onto the Jovian kennel and used to rouse the sleeping dogs! Start something that will really shake things up in EVE, across the entire galaxy. Big smile

do we really want to find out what jovian ships are equivalent to our dreads and supercarriers?

Because I have a feeling that finding out something like that is only done when they are angry at you (ask the Amarr fleet)

Well, the prospect of acquiring and flying Jovian ships has a certain appeal Twisted

I smell the alt of a recently infamous CSM Pirate

And no the Jovians are happy where they are and most pod pilts are happy for them to stay there because if their ships were introduced for flight by normal pod pilots then all other ships would be forgotten. On the other hand if Jovian ships were released and all other ships were not forgotten then the Jovian ships would not really be Jovian because CCP f-ed up. So again, no thank you.

Hmmm, if CCP really wanted to introduce Jovian ships:

Requirements would be -

150,000,000 skill points for Jovian Frigates
175,000,000 skill points for Jovian Cruisers
200,000,000 skill points for Jovian Battle Cruisers

etc., etc. along with any other required skills CCP wanted players to have before flying extremely powerful ships.

Of course, most of the player base would go ballistic with whines that CCP should introduce purchasing skill points for money.

INCURSION ALARM !
TITAN INCOMING !!
It's rumored to be Kuvakei himself !
Wormhole opens.
Pod comes through.
It's Kuvakei.
Escorted by some Jove frigates.
"Here. Take your garbage. Now leave us be."
Jove leave.
Wormhole closes.

THE END.

On the main page, I saw the RP of five player races. I wanted to be Jove. I finish downloading and I can't be one. I was so sad Cry

Oh well, I would like to see some events or something. Maybe randomly jump into some worm holes and say "hello" to us? Smile

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

there is way to get jove ships for non-jove players without them being OP.

the Jove don't release their military grade ships. they've looked at the ships of the other races, and have decided to release plans to some ships of their design that are of roughly equal power.

[edit]
just like to clarify that i'm personally against this. I want them to pursue the sleeper storyline. have them go all "The Sleeper has Awakened" and we find a way into occupied sleeper space - new region of NPC 0.0 space with semi-stable wormholes to K-space locations (ie a small selection of systems that each wormhole jumps between). this new region is fully gated sleepers-designed system gates, you can cyno between systems there once you get there, but not between K-space and Sleeper-Space.

no stations though and not as profitable as w-space (after all, this is a more stable environment), but lots of lore and fun opportunities.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

True and I would not disagree that there can be some excellent content interacting with the Jove in the future, but I see no reason in our history that would motivate the Jove to care about releasing their ships to us mere pod pilots, much less take the time to balance them so as to not break our 4 current lines of 'functional' technology. They gave us the pod technology and probably were reluctant to give us that. A new complete line of Jovian ships would more then likely break more then it would create good. But that is only my humble opinion.

The future of EVE is brighter then the recent past and the potential of new content involving the Jove is always an excellent tease I must admit.

Yeerrrr, and yer little dog, too!

Seriously, though, it would be hard to make the Jove a convincing threat. CCP would either have to weaken them to provide a reasonable chance to the players, or buff the players so they could survive against a Jove ship. Either way, the Jove wouldn't be a credible threat anymore.
