"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 40/2013 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2013

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week 41/2013 from October 5th to October 11th

Dev blogs
  • The CCP Mystery Code: Demystified - Forum discussion
  • The EVE: The Second Decade Collector’s Edition (CE), to be shipped from October 24 onwards, contains many exciting items - for example the CCP Mystery Code. As soon as you have redeemed your Mystery Code from the CE, you will be eligible for the following three things: 1) One PLEX, 2) a Cybernetic arm for your character with EVE Online: Rubicon, and 3) a Templar Mark II Prototype fighter for EVE: Valkyrie. The Mystery Code will stay active and in the months and years to come we will release further items which you can redeem with your personal CCP Mystery Code.

  • EVE TV is heading to Vegas - Forum discussion
  • EVE TV will provide a live stream of CCP and player presentations at the massive player gathering EVE Vegas. EVE TV will be broadcasting live over the CCP twitch.tv channel on October 19th (Saturday) from 17:00 to 02:00 UTC / EVE Time and on October 20th (Sunday) from 17:00 to 22:00 UTC / EVE Time. Enjoy!

  • New Player Training Sessions - Forum discussion
  • Starting October 15th, the EVE Community Team will be holding regular seminars in an effort to help get rookie pilots through the rough first few days. These seminars are called "New Player Training Sessions" and will hopefully help new players getting a more educated start into EVE Online, afterwards new players are encouraged to join one of the many educational player run organizations for further education and fun.

  • DirectX 11: What to expect - Forum discussion
  • With the EVE Online: Rubicon, our 20th free expansion coming Winter 2013/14, we introduce DirectX 11 for the EVE client. The DX11 client should perform the same (performance, stability) as the DX9 client. We will of course continue to maintain and update the current DX9 client, so if you cannot or do not want to run the DX11 version, you can enjoy EVE Online the same as always.

  • Community Spotlight: Eveoganda - Forum discussion
  • CCP Eterne presents in his latest Community Spotlight the fantastic site Evoganda and also talks about the incredible person behind this site, Rixx Javix. Check out this spotlight and Evoganda. Also: Many thanks to Rixx Javix and his colleagues!

Devposts on the forum and news
[list]
  • Trailer - Danger Game
  • Included in EVE: The Second Decade Collector’s Edition is the exciting Danger Game. Watch this video to learn more about this incredible game, its background and how even Icelandic politicians are involved here.

  • High Resolution Texture Pack
  • CCP Seagull, Senior Producer of EVE, replies to the highly popular discussion about optional high resolution textures for EVE Online. CCP is investigating if they can do publish those textures, how and when. More information will be published in a dev blog as soon as they become available.

  • Community participation in player training sessions
  • The recently presented training sessions for new players will ideally result in participation of educational player organizations in the long run. Before this can happen though, more experience needs to be gathered.

  • Rewards and prizes to fansites and third-party contributors
  • CCP Guard explains the current CCP policy of rewarding Fansites and third-party contributors with a recent example.

  • Rubicon on the test server is not the final version
  • The coming expansion for this Winter 2013/14, EVE Online: Rubicon, is now available on our public test server Singularity. Check also the section below with further information and links about Rubicon...

Hehe, just kidding! To see the happiness and how useful those summaries are for the community is the best reward I could ever imagine.

what's happened to the interdictor thread or therefore lack of?

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

Nerf web strength, Make the blaster Eagle worth using

By the way, shouldn't be here the announcement of Pod & Planet's EVE fiction contest, which is being judged by CCP Eterne, CCP Falcon, CSM Mike Azariah and player Telegram Sam?

That EVE fiction contest is a fantastic event and I hope for many participants. At this moment, however, the "This Week in EVE" focuses on CCP news and events run by CCP. We have ideas though to cover also more community news and events, may it be in its own section in the "This Week in EVE" or a completely new overview "This Week in EVE Community".

That discussion thread was not available when this summary was published. Please check the next weekly summary, which will be published on October 18, that will contain the relevant link.

    Dear CCP Phantom,
if you add a community events overview anywhere please do so in a section within the already existing "This week in EVE". There should only be one place to go. Smile

Oh, thanks for clarifying that. Smile

Just one question more, does that mean that the events listed at the end of the post, refer to CCP-sponsored events only? Question
