Environmental changes in systems (basically Weather)

I'm thinking what would be an interesting idea is to implement environmental changes to systems - so that the EVE universe becomes a little more alive, apart from the players.

For anyone who's played Starcraft 2 before, where lava sinks and rises during a game - and forces the player to react in order not to be killed - I think it would be crazy awesome to have something similar in EVE-Online.

Solar Winds, Electromagnetic Storms, Sun going super nova (ok maybe not that extreme).

But adding another layer to the game which cannot be controlled by players.

Imagine a mining operation, and you get a warning that a plasma storm is approaching and you need to get all your people out of the asteroid field, and suddenly pirates attack but they get warp scrambled by the plasma storm.

Something like that I think would be crazy fun.

"Some random stuff is coming our way again. Dock up your barges and do nothing until it ends. Then restart the op."
As fun as it sounds.

The eve universe itself is indeed surprisingly....docile.

I'd love to see the sun melt you if you get too close, or that you get hit by asteroids if you're in a ring. Or even space lightning, or space water! (they both exist!)

When are we going to the landmarks? ''Pool of Radiance'' etc...

That's what I want to see.. Lol

EDIT: Edited for misreading.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Environmental effects (space weather) have been suggested before as has the proposal that this "weather" have effects on ships systems similar to those found in various W-Space systems. I believe that while the idea was well received that the technical difficulties and resources available make it unlikely to happen.

The day I get heat damage by fighting at the sun, agility penalty when at a planet and damage when in a belt, I'll be a happy man.

Explore wormholes sometime. Plenty of environmental effects

I could support this, random = good in my opinion, provided there are beneficial/rewarding ones as well. A storm that just wipes your mining fleet, justc ause isnt terribly fun, although would do wonders for afk miners.

I see this as a useful vector for adding new content/resources/things to fight over

I would like to see stars deal a constant rate of EM and Thermal damage if you get too close... might make for some interesting tactics.

Totally! Oh, the humanity... (wait, most miners are bots anyway, right? ;) )
In addition to how these could potentially affect ship systems, I'd love to see some visual effects as well. Reduced visibility, electromagnetic arcing, shield and sensor fluctuations, etc.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.
