A smaller dedicated ship maintenance ship?

I'm thinking that a ship dedicated to a ship maintenance bay and cheaper than an Orca could be useful to a lot of players. I.E., it wouldn't have the ore hold, fleet hangar, ability to fit warfare links, or the other bonuses the Orca has.

Think of it like the ship maintenance version of the new dedicated industrial ships. I'd accept it being one or two orders of magnitude more expensive than those if it had a decent tank, though. Say ~10 million ISK if it had a Procurer level tank, or 100 million+ ISK if it had an Orca level tank.

The upcoming deployable maintenance depot may fill this need

How would a stationary deployable structure allow the moving of multiple assembled ships simultaneously? I was thinking of this for the purpose of, say, moving a few assembled assault frigates and a salvager-fit destroyer around simultaneously for doing sites far from home.

Emphasis on the transport of assembled, rigged ships, not on the fitting service.

Edit: In fact, I'd accept this theoretical ship not having a fitting service in exchange for it having a low production cost.

And how much would you like your giant blinking 'GANK ME' sign to be able to carry?

You can already do this with a carrier.

I was under the impression that carriers cost more than Orcas. Also, my initial idea was for solo players to move a couple small ships for running sites and a salvaging destroyer to site areas more than, say, a dozen jumps away from home in hisec.

Carriers can't fill that role at all.

Moving say.... 3 cruisers...... That seems about what you want right? Or maybe 2 cruisers and 3 frigates (Rigged for probing, data & relic sites).
You do realise you have...
A: Perfectly described the Orca's carrying capacity.
B: Are quite possibly carrying 300-400 million in ships. Unless you only use T1 ships.

So.... my vote. No. The Orca already fills this role just fine. The only place I would approve of this kind of request is if they redid ship hangers to be docking berths per class, rather than simply a certain volume. And as a result significantly changed what the orca can carry.

The Orca is less expensive than an Orca? And its cost doesn't include the things an Orca has which someone only using the Ship Maintenance Bay doesn't need?

How much less expensive than an Orca is an Orca?

Why is this needed? Have courier contracts stopped working?

I realise you want something cheaper than an Orca we can't always have what we want. The Orca exists, it works and I for one would not transport fitted ships in HiSec in something with less tank than a max tanked Orca.

Moving fit ships, no, but a method for fleets of small ships to be able to refit (without a capital) in space sounds interesting. I could see it used in FW and null space roams, where friendly stations are not readily available.

Granted as James Akachi said the new deployable might negate this but do we know how large these structures are?
I think it would be cool to have one of these ships in a fleet, lagging behind somewhere that allow fleets to have an limited ability to switch doctrine (eg. from close range to sniper) and maybe offer some kind of repair facility (repair overheated mods faster?)

possible, but would need more work.

I'v read the posts now, I know what people want.

They want a new mothership, but without the dronesstuff.
It should be able to hold 50m m3 of ships, so a fleet can re-deploy from close-range to long range.

The ship should be able to fit covert-ops.
The ship should be able to use covert-cyno fields.
The ship should allow refitting, repairing, reprocessing and built ammo.

The ship should also have the tank of a Titan, with the agility of a shuttle, it should be bubble immune and able to move by gates through empire.

When the ship is undocked for the first time, it will post a message saying "Go home fool, your drunk" and instead the pilot appears in his pod with no drunken dream ship in sight.
