Geezus, they finally decided to make a move into DX11 because everybody apparently run Eve on calculators and you want them to support some barely released OS just because it had geek news headlines for like 5 seconds?

On the other hand they made mediocre shooter for PS3 so expect full Steam OS support next month.

I dream of native linux client.
The steam on linux initiative is a bold step btw, I'm curious if steam is strong enough to actually change things, it would be interesting. Windows is boring.:)

At least I can fix most of my problems on Windows by myself (which I rarely have), when I use Linux I have to consult 7 different people on changing display settings through the console and still fail to change the screen resolution no matter what superuser rights I command. Also when there are issues with Windows I'll probably find at least a few people who have had the same problem and know how to fix it.
God help you if you can't connect to the web and need help with that, altough with the advent of smartphones this problem is a little lesser.

Playing EVE with a controller on the livingroom couch. That would make POS bashing and laggy blops a lot more enjoyable, I can imagine.

Cool story bra. If you even fail at finding the menu for the display settings and think you have to do something on the cli then I doubt very much that Linux or the desktop environment you used was the problem. I hope you stay on Windows, I would hate it if the "fix my printer" crowd switches over.

go back a few years then and join the then 0.5% linux users that played EVE, pretty much the reason why CCP decided to give up on the linux client.

a better question would be, how do you play eve with a controller?

Well Einstein, I obviously did try to change the settings from the control menu. Didn't work. Then I explained my problem and asked around how to change the settings manually I was told to edit a config file, which I did, once again to no avail. As a final resolution they told me to "type this command to the console and use super user" to do it. Did so and still did not work. After this people just shrugged and said they didn't have any solution that they could think of. And yes I did provide them with all the relevant information they asked of me - the system was updated with latest drivers and system updates available, aside from that it was a fresh installation.

Anyway, as I really wasn't too keen on using my computer with 800x600 resolution in the year of the lord 2010 I did what any sensible user would do after trying to fix a very damn basic problem with the help of numerous people for a week, fixed MBR and formatted the Linux partition and continued using Windows I hadn't and wasn't planning on uninstalling due to Linux being a relatively poor OS for gaming at the time and as far as I've understood, still is.

I doubt it. CCP abandoned Linux a long time ago.

Always funny that people don't remember that SteamOS can use K/M as well, not just the new fancy-smancy controller.

So anyway does anyone reckon CCP will get touchscreen support for my tablet any time soon?

I have a feeling some are gonna have too much fun with those radial menus being implemented onto that controller...
