I HIGHLY recommend SSD's. I never build a computer without one. They boot your computer up SUPER fast and it will load the EVE client faster as well, but you wont see any boost in game performance. Thats what the GPU's are for.

LOL. How old are you? 12?

well either that or he's missing a chromosome.

Also don't talk about things if you don't have any understanding of the subject, stating that only a GPU boosts gaming performance is dumb as ...

Well, let me go and sell my GPU's for a top of the line SSD...that will improve my performance, no? Roll

SSD's do not provide any meaningful boost to your gaming experience...that’s common knowledge. It's so negligible as to be almost non existent

The only other part that has any meaningful effect on game performance other than the GPU is the CPU, but even still, for a gaming PC

1. Graphics Card
2. CPU
3. Everything else

SSD will not provide any meaningful boost to the performance of your game, ie frame rate- they WILL decrease any load times in your game.

Im getting a new pc this weekend so will be installing Eve :)

will it make any difference if i put the game on a Solid State drive or should i just put it on my normal Hard Drive.

Regards

Will it make a difference? Sure.

Will it make a big difference? Not really.

At least I didn't see much difference when I last cleaned up my system and moved everything but the OS and a few select programs off the SSD.

Your mileage may differ.

Actually, RAM has too,
as there is no software out there that doesn't suffer from cache misses.

This means that faster RAM leads to higher performace.

Anyhow, completely irrelevant to what i wanted to write.

You two are having this discussion, because "performance" means different things for you.
Instead of bitching around at each other, you should be clearing up your misunderstandings.

I recently picked up a Samsung 840 Pro SSD

Best ratings on read/write.

In regards to performance, I set the ssd as my OS Bootdrive, and everything else on HD.

This. It's why I use recycled SSDs. Way cheaper, and page file deterioration is easily handled while still getting the file system responsiveness than you need to load applications.

I'll buy a used car. I'll by a second hand pair of jeans. Previously owned house, even.

But, good grief, if you can't shell out for a new drive, the thing that holds every bit of your important data as well as your OS and settings, then you need to give your head a shake.

Buying refurbished storage is just dumb. Especially as it's one of the most inexpensive components in your system.

I've seen all the whining about GPUs...what gives? Do people not realize that a GPU is part of the video card...and um...the video card will impact games that use....um...a....GPU??

How old are you? 11?

In Eve Ping is King. an SSD will not fix most of hte issue people have with eve as they are often internet based not Local clinet based.

I upgraded from 7200rpm hdd to ssd a few months ago.
SSD is awesome, great boot and applications load times, but I didn't notice any difference in actual gameplay.

Copy time is awesome, too. :)

My two cents: I moved my EVE installation to my SSD (OS is on the HDD -- The SSD is 30GB so too small for the OS). Everything is only slightly faster. The biggest difference I've REALLY noticed is when we get new patches Big smile That junk gets patched at lightning speed!

You do not need a SSD for Eve. This is not advice for your rig or setup, but in regards to Eve as an application.

And since you had to ask, I would caution about choosing a SSD unless you are in the practice of buying refurbished ones every few months (I do) because SSDs deteriorate over time.

If you want a decent rig that is going to support your games for a good amount of time, just get a decent 500gb hard drive with like 10k RPM and slave a 3TB drive to it for storage.

Way lower maintenance.

After 4 years of usage my oldest Intel SSD is still reported as 100% healthy. Not sure what brands you are buying if you have to replace them every 6 months.

I moved my pron stash to the SSD, gives a much better fapping experience! Oops NO REALLY I SWEAR! Roll

As for what components affect gaming experience I would place things in this order:

Graphics card (GPU, video RAM)
RAM (minimum 8 gigs)
CPU
SSD/HD
