Battleship sized solo/small gang PvP

I know, I'm gonna get blobbed and die in a fire.
I don't really care.

I've always been something of a battleship guy, there's nothing quite like the feeling of a ponderous, mile-long death machine.
That said, I've never tried one in actual PvP.
Hell, I've never even seen one, in small scale PvP environments.

Consequently, I have no idea of where to start from.
How do you fit one, how do you fly it, the engagement envelopes, et caetera.

Now, EvE is pretty, big, and I'm sure there's someone who still does it.

The question is, who?

Do you know anyone who engages in battleship-sized small gang PvP?
If so, could you please me how can I contact them?
Thank you.

Some people do pew Battleships but there is only one place that it happens regularly. (Innia station undock)

1. Get the most expensive battleship you can afford.
2. Fit it with the best modules you can afford. (Fitting Faction/Deadspace/Officer modules to your BS = you can't lose)
3. Head to Innia station and sit on undock.
4. Shoot at the militia scrubs as they undock. (Around DT is best - so many noobs there at that time for you to blap with your BS)
5. Classified.
6. Classified.
7. Classified.
8. Grab Loot.
9. Link funny gif in local.

Sure thing, just let me fit all the pimp I can afford on a railgun mach and I'll dive into lowsec.

Yes there is! Where to find them? Check Eve Kill, YouTube, and ingame public channels.

It is as if you don't believe/trust me.........

5 - was get to use our boosts
6 - was get provided ECM support
7 - was get remote reps

You coulda been unstoppable man, a hero in eve, the last great low sec Battleship pilot, wiminz would stroke your solid battleship and comment on how after a struggle and some patience it finally fit in the docks that they have only used for smaller ships previously.

Now your lack of trust in your fellow eve players has made that dream unobtainable.

I must say I don't use my Battleship for PVP regularly, but I enjoy doing so occasionaly. I usually have 1x BS hull available for pew pew along a small selection of BC's and cruisers. I don't think Battleships are that uncommon in small gang PVP actually, the Hyperion is quite popular with the guys I roam with, as are the Tempest and the Typhoon.

I took out a solo MJD typhoon before it was changed to test the mjd in combat and was surprised to see it hold up quite remarkably. My fit was nuets and autos in high, dual web cap booster mjd etc in mids and an ancillary armor rep based tank. After roaming about for a little while I baited and killed a couple of frigs - nothing special but I'm sure it was carebear space. Jumped through a regional gate and ran into a 70 man muninn gang - bit of an ohsheet moment but my mjd got me out of there in half armor. Got a cruiser kill iirc then got chased by a nano hac/recon gang for 10minutes before a cynabal got scrams on me and I went down in glorious fire. So much fun and I think with a couple of wingmates an mjd roam would be quite effective.
The problem comes though looking at isk efficiency - you need to get a good number of kills to break even if you die. And you need smaller ships with you to get the targets for you to kill.
I do thhink it's feasable though, if I were to do it again I'd take a torp armour typhoon, a sentry geddon and a utility sentry domi with support from a rapier/hyena and a sabre. It's on the cards!

I like to derp battleships about occasionally too. You WILL die in a fire. But its fun all the same. I suspect that the new Keres and Hyena changes are going to make battleships and perhaps BCs even more of an endangered species. You simply will have no chance (or very little) to disengage ever in small gang with a large ship anymore.

All of that being said - here are some old fits that I tweaked for Odyssey. I have been gone a year, so I havent used the MJD yet. Feel free to add it as you see fit. These were fun fits to fly before Odyssey.

These are two possibilities of updated versions of the old "Club Bear" or Kil2 Megathron (Is Kil2 now CCP Rise?).

105k EHP, 217 active tank, 1022 dps w antimatter. This fit used to have a neut. With the changes dropping the utility high - no idea how it will perform. feel free to swap in LAAR instead of LAR, but I can see the argument for both. You arent going to get alphaed in this, so the better endurance of a LAR might work better...

Personally - for all of these Id use minmatar drones because they give you an extra damage type and are faster, but I know people just like to look at big deeps numbers... You should also probably use Null in most situations, which will lower your deeps quite a bit. If your fitting skills arent up to par, you can swap the plates for 1600 RTPs.

Good luck. Yes - you will die. But isnt that why we all undock?

The Hyperion has good numbers -- if you're set on doing this, consider that.

The cruise nano-Phoon is pretty awesome for solo and small gang from what I've seen. Besides that you have the classic dual rep Dominix and the now even better triple rep hype. The Maelstrom can also hold its own, but lacks a propmod in many fits.

I've been looking into the nanophoon as well, especially since I have Minmatar BS V.
It overshadows the Tempest in every single way, as far as small scale PvP goes, in my opinion.

I'd use a Dominix, but I'm afraid no one would actually engage me, except for large groups.

One of the appeal of battleships lowsec PvP is the way people flock around them like vultures; no sane pilot will engage a Dominix without being absolutely sure of being able to counter it.

I've seen some hilarious Hyperion videos, as well as some pretty interesting Rokh engagements.
Funny how these ships, slow and ponderuous as they are, can be adapted to such exotic activities as solo PvP.

I have experience flying the Cruise nano phoon solo. You need snakes + links to make it work, along with crash. If you have those things however, the phoon can do amazing things. If you are interested in a fit let me know.

But suffice it to say, battleships are really bad in the current meta (and are going to be completely screwed once the inty / eaf / warp changes) take place.

Navy Cruisers / HAC's are where its at now. With a few ABC's thrown in there.

True story: About a month ago I went on a solo roam in my Navy Geddon of about 40 jumps in a big loop around Black Rise.

Apart from one brave frigate that had a pop at me but ran away after i set my warriors on him, I ran into nothing.

Moral of the story : I forget.

The man speaks the truth.

Battleships are going be slow, expensive and taking one up the rear end in Rubicon.

Welp dont know who does it but i know when rubicon hits im going to do it more often. im going to use an Armageddon with RHML. With those combined with drones and long range nuets it should be fun. hope to see your out there with your own battleship.

Well, the falcon nullifies the point of it.

The Dominix and Armageddon are competent on their own; the Tempest would be my third choice (although it's a pretty distant third).

Unfortunately, anyone who can't kill you can outrun you, so you're relying on dumb guys engaging when they shouldn't. This is why I seldom use my Geddon.
