Ship Agility

It's my understanding that ship agility, and maneuverability are the same thing. Is Evasive Maneuvering, Spaceship Command, and Advanced Spaceship Command the only skills that affect your ships agility?

Also check the Armour Layering skill. If you fit armour plates, the skill will affect your agility by reducing the plates mass penalty by 5% per skill level.

Edit: But yes, there are only those three skills, that give you a direct increase in agility.

I didn't see the Armour Layering skill, good to know. Thanks for the reply! Blink

Huh. I was going to point out that Armor Rigging has a larger effect than Armor Layering, but that's actually wrong when we're talking about agility. Posting anyway in case anyone else was tempted by the same mistake. Armor Rigging has a (much) larger effect on top speed but none at all on agility. Which makes sense when you think about what they actually do.

Agility reduces the effective mass of a ship.

Effective Mass = Mass * Inertial Modifier * (1 - Agility)

The lower the effective mass, the faster the acceleration, which also means the faster the ship can change direction (ships use a velocity vector that has direction and magnitude, hence you cannot be "aligned" at 0 velocity).

Agility Skills:
* Evasive Maneuvering.
* Spaceship Command.
* Advanced Spaceship Command (only for ships requiring it).
* Capital Ships (only for ships requiring it - pretty useless for the most part, as capitals are really slow).

Agility Stuff:
* Implants: Nomad (Thuker) and possibly some others I can't think of at the moment.
* Modules: nanofiber & inertial stabilizers (istabs).
* Rigs: Polycarbon Engine Housing & Low Friction Nozzle Joints
Basically there are two types of fittings: one that increases only agility, and one that increases agility and velocity. Beware of stacking penalties when using the fittings with both.

I believe Advanced Spaceship Command only gives you agility bonus to hulls that need it as a pre-req, i.e. capitals.

So Evasive Maneuvering and Spaceship Command for non cap, gotcha.
