Question on dreads

So me and some buddies got into a discussion about capitals/hotdrops/Null blobs and the like. I will be the 1st to admit I am a total noob at capital ships. I tried to do some /badmath/ to figure things out myself but lacking a capital (specifally a dread) I figured I would come to the forums to see if my /badmath/ is somewhat close. So my questions are as follows:

Using some EFT warrioring I figured the average Dread puts out 4K DPS in siege mode. Is this accurate? Thinking of this scenario...I know it's unlikely but please play along...single dread attacks a large POS unopposed. Said POS has all around 50% resists and so this 4K DPS dread is getting 2K DPS "applied" damage to the POS meaning it would take approx 1 hour 45 minutes for a single dread to put a large POS into RF (assuming nobody came to rescue it)...Is this more or less close?

Another question about dreads...how bad are its extra large weapons at hiting large targets...like say a battleship? If a lone dread were to fight against a single battleship solo would it (the dread) have a hard time hitting/applying damage to the battleship (lets just assume this is in WH space and no help is coming for either side)?

Thank you in advance,
Dray

Yeah, your doing something wrong.

Dreads do between 9 - 14k DPS pre heat depending on the Dread and the fit.

A proper fit siege dread will do between 10k and 16k damage depending on fit and ammo.

Dreads specifically fit for it are pretty proficient at hitting battleships and will kill them very fast, especially if the battleships are webbed down. I suggest finding a youtube video of such a fight, from a dread point of view to get a real idea of how fast they go down.

Eeeek...I was way off..so that 9-14K, lets average it and say 11K DPS, sooo around 40 minutes for a dread to RF a large POS solo...that about right (roughly)?

You're low...

Using Base stats from the Wiki:

Amarr - 40m 0/50/25/0 (EM/EX/KN/TH) (RF = 30m)
Caldari - 50m 0/0/25/50 (EM/EX/KN/TH) (RF = 37.5m)
Gallente - 35m 0/0/50/25 (EM/EX/KN/TH) (RF = 26.25m)
Minmatar - 45m 50/0/0/25 (EM/EX/KN/TH) (RF = 33.75m)

assuming a Moros (KN/TH damage) dealing 11k DPS
58% is KN (6380)
42% is TH (4620)

Applied DPS
Amarr - 9405 DPS
Caldari - 7095 DPS
Gallente - 6655 DPS
Minmatar - 9845 DPS

Time to RF:
Amarr - 53min
Caldari - 88min
Gallente - 65min
Minmatar - 57min

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

You ROCK, thank you so very much. Exactly the stuff I was looking for.

Obviously, that's not taking shield regen into account (or proper resists mods), or bothering to check the other dreads/ammo types/etc (that's up to you).

Also, you can get resists a lot higher then 50% on a large tower. Back when I was making drugs in a large tower, I ran average 50% resist, (highest kin/therm) running full production.
