For small and large sized laser weapons pulses are doing more dps but for the medium they are doing less. Is this intended?

Here is a screenshot of what I am talking about: http://puu.sh/4LA3F.jpg

Edit: I am talking about the paper DPS of the weapons not the damage multiplier. Divide the multiplier by the fire rate to get the dps multiplier.

Working as intended. The tracking isn't as good though, so it will be hard to apply that dps at shorter ranges.

So why do small and large pulses out dps their beam counterparts? What makes mediums so special?

The fact that they were considered underpowered before.

It just looks really out of place for a weapon with shorter range to be out dpsed by a weapon with longer range and ONLY for one size category. So they buffed medium beams to the point where they out dps medium pulses?

They buffed all medium long range turrets.

Beams are fine now, pulses may do a little less DPS but have a lot more tracking. Also, Scorch gives very good results in long point ranges. Something that medium ACs and Blasters can't do as well. No change needed (I'd love to see a small HML buff though).

Ah I see... So its more of a utility trade off for mediums between the long and short range weapon types more than a damage trade off. Just weird to see higher dps at longer ranges. I guess I'll just have to live with it. Thanks for the answers.

I Believe that the reason for the inconstancy in Small, medium , Large Turrets is due to the types of engagements that can perform.

With Small guns , the short range guns are very very short range so application becomes are real issue, If you have a frig gang on a gate you pretty much have to be point blank to do any dps. The long range versions have way less damage but still have OK tracking and fix the range problem (they can shoot out to 50k on some hulls, rather than 10-20k at most.)

With Large guns the short range version still have ok projection (Even blaster can hit to around 20k) good tracking and great DPS. The long range version have less DPS however you get a crazy range so things like points, bubbles ,tank all become less of an issue (see 250k sniping Nagas ect), if they had the same DPS as the short range version it would be crazy.

Medium guns are stuck in the middle, the short range versions are pretty much the same as large in that you get get good DPS, OK range and good tracking. The Long range ones don't have enough range (other than on crazy ships like the eagle) to be immune to tackle, bubbles, enemy fire (Short range large guns can often project a similar distance) so they are some what compensated by having good DPS.
