Just see a huge similarity with the new ships and the ships in the star wars universe.

Posting in a stealth nerf new ships thread.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

I see someone found the placeholder model for the placeholder ship that's been talked about in 50 other threads already.

These aren't the ships you're looking for.

Who put the goat in there?

Who wants a titan with a poorly defended exhaust port?

Can't we board it up or, you know, put some plywood over it or something?

Really? Star Wars?

They don't remind you a little more closely of these?

We've had that for years.

Every time I look at my alts Providence the words "Stand by ion control" pop into my head.

"Ringy thing" is supposed to be a universe fabric bending part of upcoming Alcubierre drive and we'll see it more and more often in pop culture.

Not really Darth Vader ships. More like Republic-class frigates.

I took the ringy bits to be an aesthetically designed sensor/emitter array for the probing and cloaky stuff.

I was just reading Lipibite's comment regarding the ring shaped starship designs and Utremi Fasolasi speculation that the design feature was a sensor feature.

One of the conventional purposes for a ring shaped starship is to provide an environment with artificial gravity by rotating at a constant speed. At the correct speed the centripetal force equals the force of gravity. (Present Tech Artificial Gravity) Battlestar Galactica depicts them in their fleets I recall, as well. Its interesting Eve depicts them as a Propulsion system, as they dominate the ship design!

Its hard to know what shapes sensors 36000 years in the future will be. Some older transmission systems like radio, will make use of the ring feature nicely, but the quantum entanglement wouldn't require it. The use of D-scan suggests a Directional scan of course, something that is pointed. It may have a bizarre shaped apparatus like this photon detector.

I have been doing a lot of reading on the EVE tech side of thing for writing purposes.

The new SoE frigate from the back does look like a Tie Fighter. However, I do think that the cruiser looks more like the Vulcan ships from Star Trek over anything from the Star Wars universe...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."
