How to share wrecks/loot with friend or alt?

I tried using an alt to salvage a mission, but couldn't figure out how to allow the alt to tractor the wrecks or open the container.

Is there any way to assign the rights to the alt? Putting the main and alt in a fleet didn't help.

Right click -> Abandon wrecks. It will make them available to all.

Thanks. So I don't have to bother with fleets -- just make sure my alt gets there first?

Yup. The only issue is that making wrecks blue gives it access to everyone.

As you said. If both characters are in the same fleet, they will share the wrecks and thus you dont have to abandon them.

However, you have to be in the same fleet when the wreck is created.

Joining a fleet later does not share existing wrecks.

Tractor & loot privileges for wrecks in fleet will also randomly disappear as ships change session, leave the star system (or even dock at a station in the same star system) or any number of seemingly random and unrelated actions are taken.

The safest option is to abandon the wrecks. Accidentally triggering the suspect flag thanks to stupid wreck looting permissions will end up costing you a whole lot more than that day's loot and salvage.
