I think it's unrealistic to think that this is other than a peacemaking effort, whatever they could cobble together before x-mas. An enticement for people to re-sub and keeping subscribers. It's basically stuff that they had on their to-do list and was easy to do, can't really expect something major changes from that tbh. I do think they've overhyped this one to a degree and it'll **** of those who are coming back expecting something big.

Having said that though they did say something along the line that it was simply that. They would be starting with a small effort as a show of good faith. and continuing with a larger effort next year. Whether that will actually happen, well that remains to be seen.

I'm looking for their announcement of their next expansion. That's the one that will count.

Emphasis added... yah I agree with this. The pressure should be on. This expansion is a peacemaker. The next one is either going to be the dealmaker or dealbreaker I bet. I'll still play (probably) to some small capacity either way, but I won't need multiple accounts to do that if the next one isn't really good...

QFT.

It's a _very_ good bet that this expansion wasn't planned much before the end of summer. It "feels" like a plan B (plan A having been more WiS crap).

I'm not saying this'll be a "bad" expansion -- but there is SIGNIFICANTLY more to be excited about than compared to Incarna. Too bad my PC won't be able to handle all the new shiny in all its glory.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Considering that half the content in this next expansion is worthy of praise. The other half worthy of worship... I feel as though this thread is pointless. Anyone with half a brain can tell you this is a win expansion.

while the art team totally killed it, the patch (not really an expansion) is more or less a total fail. CCP suckered me into coming back, and i did for 4.95, only to realize that AF's, FW, hybrids, nullsec, and all the good stuff wont be fixed for another 6 months, if ever. this patch is all sugarcoating and no substance.

Sure, I'll be the Devil's Advocate here.

This expansion has a lot of neat stuff. The new ships, lots of neat little fixes, a change of direction, plenty of balance changes, not to mention the extra glitter in the form of nebulae, stars, trails..

.. But all of it is indeed small stuff.

The big problems Eve has right now are with its core. Nullsec needs a revamp. Lowsec needs a revamp. Faction Warfare, Sov, Bounty Hunting, Smuggling, Mining and Industry.

These are the big things, and this expansion won't address any of them.

Crucible is buying time and goodwill. And it'll buy a lot of it.

But the fight isn't even close to over.

Those are big things spiffy. So help me understand whats wrong with them.

~ Null needs a revamp? Why and How?
~ LS Needs a revamp? Why and How?
~ I'll give you Faction, Sov, and Bounty Hunting maybe (the first two need fixed but Bounty Hunting is just stupid anyway)
~ Smuggling? In a Player driven economy why and how?
~ IMO mining and Industry perform as intended, although T2 production is click intensive I hear yet I still see tons of T2 stuff for sale so is it working as intended?

I hear lots of pissing and moaning about this or that and with CCP making an effort to get back on track all you hear is people bellyaching about what they aren't doing. I question some of the things that people say need fixing. There is a difference between what you don't like and what is broken. Until you can summarize your points beyond what you posted you're just making noise.

The sky is blue, the sun is warm, water is wet, grass is green and **** happens.

Winter expansion: when is the final part released?

The first part (Nov 29th) is not the complete expansion.

Absolute **** is this Tempest Fit.

well actually its not that bad of an setup concidering lvl III missions the dual 425s are good call..

trimarks well you never know if someone will try to suicide gank you xD hardly this ship thoLol

I have asked him to come test any of my fits anytime, I guess someone needs to show him how to use a locator agent, and probably front the cash.

Ironically, he has so much faith in me he thinks that my tempest fit from level 3 missions can somehow co-relate to the new expansion. That's pretty ******* flattering to have someone on my **** 23/7 like that.

Eve online is the best game ever. I could never troll someone that hard in WoW and get away with it.

IMO the game is in desparate need of offering something to do thats not yet another idiotic afkable activity. I tried playing a couple of weeks ago, got sentimental after a few months of just switching skills. After 5 days of roaming hours at a time I found basically noone undocked. Game full of blockade runners and generic docked alts is no fun so I went back to rift. Which sucks btw. But at least I can do things there that don't come down to jumping around empty space hoping for action that never happens, it has this thing called gameplay.

CCP started ruining the game way before Incarna. It's the unreasonable tendency to produce more and more content that doesn't require being undocked in a serious ship DOING something that's the source of real crisis imo, and I'm honestly not sure how does introducing a few new ships address this, there still won't be anyone undocked. I'd say if they actually went ahead with it and made real serious Incarna with player interaction it would be the equivalent of shooting a dying horse in the head, noone would undock again ever and it would be the end of eve online as we know it. This way at least there's some hope left.

Anyway eve is by far the most captivating game I ever played and I truly honestly hope ccp draws their heads out of their arses and makes it fun again as it used to be when I played whole afternoons and evenings and kept buying new ships to replace lost ones.

Fail

Hybrid Fixes are underwhelming and suggest that the devs making these decisions do not really play or understand the game.

AF's were shelved yet again. EAFs, the least utilized ship class in the game, are apparently not on the radar.

The new BC's sounded interesting, maybe even great, at first. Then they broke them.

The Naga, and specifically the dev comments regarding the reasoning behind the design decisions, shows that the devs do not understand the problems Caldari pilots face, or why no one is actually using their combat ships other than the Drake.

An exciting expansion would be one that shakes things up in game, adding some excitement and variety, and one that showed that the folks at CCP have actually embraced a change in direction. I am seeing instead more of the same. More failed balancing, more dropped promises.

Fail mostly, with some small win.

CCP went it the easy way (again...things like that simply never change), and simply gave us some shiny beads to distract us (tier 3 bc, you know: the ones all them threads are about) from the fact that it's still all words and no c4ke from Iceland.

Yes, I do. That's why we call them "promises" instead of calling them "things that may or may not be done". I expect promises to be kept, but perhaps I'm the only one.

This expansion is a baby step in the right direction, it contains a few of the things we've been promised for years, but past experience tells me that as soon as something foolish and shiny appears ccp will chase after it again, leaving us with even more half finished features.

win
people complaining about the hybrid fix actually dont have a clue and are just hurf blurfing because some bittervets do, and they cant be wrong right?
Small fixes and supercap nerf are very welcome too.

only downside is that there is no "big" feature in the first deployment but they going to do a staged release anyway so vOv

I say win.

For the longest time people wanted engine trails and new cynos back and there were threadnaughts about this on the old forums. They are fixed.

CCP fixed CQ so older machines could run it more smoothly with less artifacting.

Time dialation -

4 new ships to change the balance of eve and how we play it.

Hybrid fix - It's a bandage and not a total fix, still needs work but they at least put some time into it, the biggest and best change was the cap usage. But no one noticed that.

starbase fuel pellets. --- I dont know how many have pos towers but FREAKING WIN.

pi changes - I do pi, do you? Im going to be a rich man selling customs offices.

----

hybrids still need a little more work. I dont know why so many people are complaining, rails got a decent damage boost which makes caldari rail boats more viable.
The better fitting requirements make it easier to fly gallente ships.

people need to stop fitting oversized AB onto their ships, of course it's going to go slow dumbass, a 100mn ab add the mass of that of your entire fitted ship..

Gallente need just a little bit more love, the speed boost across teh board was nice, but they need to have a natural bonus to mass addition from ab and mwd.

naga needs some more work

pos changes are win.

I am happy with what is coming.
