When was the last time you were held for ransom?

The kind of pirates I see these days are "ganker-griefers", that will blow you up for the lulz and the smack talk in local.

Two days ago I was looting a mission in my defenless Noctis, got scanned, scrambled, ganked by a Catalyst, and he got my pod with my (last) full set of +5 implants, never said a word during the action, and only "that was a nice pod" in local afterwards.

Had I had the choice, I would gladly have paid a ransom.

Oh, and all that was in hi sec too, in a mission hub in Lonetrek.

A ganker in hisec would have had at most 25 seconds to violence your boat and pod before CONCORDOKEN. Not a lot of time for chit chat.

I've never been ransomed. Only 10mo old though. I also never fly anything worth paying a ransom for.

Never been held for ransom. If I ever was, I would just self destruct my ship, and if they tried my pod, would do the same.

SO, yeah it seems fairly unanimous .. Pirates doesn't really ask ransom any more, seems that killboard padding is more important then a few millions isk.

With that said, i think it makes perfect sense, making isk is ridiculously easy, a tutorial's been written for damn near every conceivable way there is to earn a 300+ mill every hour now .. This wasn't always the case back in 2010 (which is when i took a hiatus from the game)

Has the game lost an element? There used to be forum threads which commended "honorable" pirates, which was almost always laughable, as the definition of piracy rather excludes the term "honor" at all .. There's no honor among thieves.

I have never been asked for ransom. I wouldn't pay it if I was. All pvp interaction I've ever had has been without warning, without discussion, without interaction and over long before either side would have had time to talk.

I don't interact with people who aggress me. I don't expect anyone who is willing to ruin my play experience to satisfy their own to have any kind of human social fiber that merits interaction in the first place, so why bother? They'll only be encouraged to ruin other people's play experiences too. Look at all the foolish "I love tears" garbage you see on the forums. These aren't people you can talk to or negotiate with. They are, at best, jerks and bullies.

Pay a ransom? Never. I'd happily and wordlessly lose 100 billion before I'd pay someone 1.

Yeah, piracy is dead, long live ganking !

BTW, where did you find tutorials to earn 300+ millions PER HOUR ? My personnal best is around 160 millions while doing HQ Incursions ... I might have played the game wrong ...

I have once honoured a ransom myself, but I have never seen it happen in any other context.

Don't pay ransoms.

Also, related story...

I once saw someone pay a 600m ransom. In a n00b ship. We assumed they had something in their cargo, so we blew them up to see what it was. Nothing. They had 1 trit in their cargo. They paid 600m, to save a free ship, with nothing inside, and we blew it up.

It's not a completely dead profession. If TunDraGon ever catches you, ask for a ransom for your ship or your pod in local. If we agree and you pay, you will be let go. We have a very strict policy on this and as the oldest surviving pirate corp in Eve we seek to keep the tradition alive.

If for any reason a trigger happy pirate of ours kills you after you pay a ransom, you will receive a refund. Pay your ransoms are directly to the Corp wallet where it can be easily tracked should this unlikely event ever happen.

i once tried to ransom someone. the second the transaction happened a neutral appeared and killed the victim. haven't tried ransoms again.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Am I the only one that thinks posting that you get ransomed and pay, is not something you want to advertise? Roll

Wouldn't pay now, I would laugh and let them pod me and come back in something that could take them down.

However then I was a newbie again after years away and learning the game, probably 2 months old, so they were nice.

So it was about three months ago, when i was not paying attention in a safe and thank god i got ransomed and not instantly podded. As i had forgotten to update my clone ( i was drunk pvping, never a good idea) and as he counted down from ten i freaked out and sent him the wrong amount three times haha. Eventually i paid him and he stopped counting down and i explained to him that i am slightly nooby, that i just gave him all my money and didnt have my clone upgraded.

He gave me some of the isk back, and i made the kill right available to every one :D.

its taken me a long time to realize if im playing eve, it needs my full attention. Allways.
