So it seems to me that piracy in eve has gone rampant, i don't oft hear of people being ransomed anymore, and I see more -10's than ever before..

So here's a question in regards to all that:
When was the last time you were ransomed and NOT destroyed once the ransom was payed, either in null or lowsec?

When in eve uni I was pod ransomed in lowsec, it wasn't a real ransom though coz he let me go without paying at all lol. I came back in another ship and we has some practice pvp.

The last time I attempted to ransom someone was when I was in a merc corp a few months ago, he was noob so it was a silly ransom like a million isk, he didn't understand what was going on though so I just blew him up. I would have honoured it if he had a clue.

I think ransoms are called permits now. And pirates are now just glorified traffic wardens. Sigh.

Maybe three and a half years ago, walked into low sec with a Raven without realizing what low sec was. Didn't have enough isk to pay the ransom though, so lost the Raven.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

That was back in December 2011 in Crielere or Rancer.

Sometimes back in 2006 ...

The kind of pirates I see these days are "ganker-griefers", that will blow you up for the lulz and the smack talk in local.

Two days ago I was looting a mission in my defenless Noctis, got scanned, scrambled, ganked by a Catalyst, and he got my pod with my (last) full set of +5 implants, never said a word during the action, and only "that was a nice pod" in local afterwards.

Had I had the choice, I would gladly have paid a ransom.

Oh, and all that was in hi sec too, in a mission hub in Lonetrek.

I have never ever been ransomed. I hear to many people say "...and then I blew him up anyway HURR HURR HURR" so I would imagine the profession is dead, and thus I have never tried ransoming ships or pods myself. Ransoming undefended POS works to some degree though.

EDIT:
I just realized I in fact have been ransomed once but it was my first ship loss ever, and didn't catch on the message in local in time to even respond. I guess the pirate saw I was less then a week old and figured I'd not be able to pay anyway Lol

Unfortunately I've never had the isk that was demanded for a ransom to test it.

2007 in npc nul

even back then there was no guarantee that paying the ransom was going to save your ship
so I didn't pay

I didn't lose my ship either.

I honor all ransoms if I catch you out in low or null.

I've never been ransomed on any of my characters. If I am ever ransomed I won't pay. Space money isn't that important to me.

My pod has been caught maybe two or three times so that my captors have started a convo and asked for a ransom. Unlucky for them, I never have any expensive implants in my pods so I just tell them to shoot me for the quick trip home.

I've ransomed maybe 3-5 people myself and I never kill them, assuming they pay. One time I killed a pod that I was ransoming because the guy had difficulty paying the agreed sum. Kept sending me too little isk either trying to fool me by sending something or trying to buy time for his backup to arrive. Or maybe he was just too upset to function properly. Either way I gave him a full refund after killing him.

Ransomed a couple times, never payed. Rather read yellow laughs in local because they killed my tralala then loud laughs because they killed my tralala AND scammed isk out of my pockets.

Plus loosing ships and pods it's all what this game is about so, no big deal at all. Pirate
