Testing the Golem on Test server.

CCP, how long has the art and animation department been working on transformations?

Are we only getting part of the transformation, cause it looks like crap....

4 little hatches open up that don't even stand out unless you're looking at the front of the ship....

Seriously guys, you can do better than that....

I agree...The Gallete Hull is fine but the Golem is just...blah.

I wouldn't even call it a transformation...
It's like the little flaps that open on a jet to slow it down... not much at all

They really should have downplayed this instead of using the word transformation They could have said "and when bastion mode is activate, vents open up. Its kinda neat" Hopes and dreams, shattered.

Using word "transformation" for this thing was one of those trolls CCP played on us.

Rubicon hit the test server much earlier than any expansion we have done in the past. There are lots of things not complete, and just missing as we haven't gotten around to doing them during normal development.

So just be patient, and don't expect everything to be fully complete and polished when you see it on the test server.

I have to agree with CCP Paradox. In many games you would simply have to wait till expansion day to see the first glimpses of new functionalities. You should consider yourselves favored for being able to test it out yourself and give feedback. Give CCP time to improve these animations. Test server is for testing purposes, nobody said everything was done yet. Otherwise you would be using it on TQ already.

So there will be transformers in space? Cool :)

let's be honest about something. the bastion is cool because it's a new module and has crazy bonuses, but after a month, how many of you will still look at the trasformation or the transformed ships ? Personally i prefer a simple animation with less bugs and problems.

I was kinda hoping for something more elaborate, too.
But I also think that seeing how the cycle time of the Bastion module is rather short, I can see how a smaller scaled transformation can be sensible.

Let's see if they tune it up a bit til release!

The animations aren't what bothers me. It's cool in a way. It's the Golem's ******** model that bothers me. I kind of like the "head" on it, but all the sensor stuff under the other wing is missing for one. The model just doesn't have any character.

That's why I specifically said in the OP

The Kronos transformation consists of those flaps on the front opening, the middle piece with highslots 5 and 6 on it sliding forward noticeably, the weird cylindrical thing on the side dropping down and the bridge sliding forward and down towards the hull a bit. It's actually not bad at all. If the Vargur's is as nice as this, I'll look forward to being able to legitimately fly one - provided that Team FozzieRise don't wreck them like they nearly did with Version 2.

as the cycle is only 60 seconds, there is a limit in crazyness availabe.
ideally you have a deploy- , being in-mode and a retract phase. when the animation would be anything like a filmtransformer, ccp would be forced to prolong the bastion mode to 120sec just to accommodate the animation.

Transformers in the movie can speed transform as well.

This brings up a question, does the siege mode not stay on unless you hit the button?

Aka I turn on and it stays on until I tell it otherwise like my shield booster?

Or does it only last exactly 1 minute every time?

If it works like a shield booster they only need each segment of the animation not to be longer than roughly 29 seconds...

Bastion mode last until canceled, once you cancel it has to finish cycle then you're able to move again. You still have to wait another 60 seconds to dock/jump because of the weapons timer.

Incorrect...

I have been watching the timer.

It stays locked at 1min while you're in bastion.

As soon as you exit bastion, the timer turns off.

This is to keep you from docking/jumping/WH while bastioned.
However, if you haven't shot someone, you can dock/jump/WH as soon as the cycle ends.

Edit
Oh, and in response to the question of cycle ending.

It acts just like any other module in game.
It cycles continuously until you deactivate, in which case, you will end bastion at the end of the deactivated cycle.
