Must have: The option to invert mouse wheel zoom, it's soooo weird to have it different than my in-space settings

A nice thing to go with the zooming would be to have it zoom relative to where your mouse is (think guild wars 2 map) so if you zoom out, reposition your mouse, and zoom in, it would zoom and center on the location of your mouse.

One little thing, the thumbnails of ships don't fade in/out at the same rate as the rest of the mouseover pop-up. Currently feels a bit jarring.

This might be a little difficult to decipher, so I'll start by saying that "tooltip" refers to the information pop-up when you hover over a ship's sillhouette in the tree.

I rather like the ship fly-by when you click on its icon in the pop-up tooltip. However, I'm not sure clicking on that icon needs to open a preview window in addition to the fly-by. Currently when you click on the white sillhouette of the ship you'll open the info window which provides all the usual functionality, including an icon that triggers a preview window when clicked. Having the tooltip in the ship tree also provide that functionality feels redundant and, if your preview window is resized large enough to see anything in it, covers over the flyby. Perhaps remove the preview trigger from the pop-up.

With regards to the fly-by, I noticed that different factions have them at different angles and while this isn't a bad thing, some of those angles are pretty useless. The Sansha ships, for example, fly nearly straight away from you which is not helpful in the slightest. The Gallente ships fly away from you as well although at a much lesser angle which allows more to be seen. The trouble there, however, is that the ships only fly a certain distance and then they stop - this leaves you with a still-visible ship model just kinda sitting there. If it's not possible to keep the ship moving until it's too small to notice anymore, maybe do away with flying-away-from-you angles and have all the ships either fly across the screen or at some angle towards you.

I'm very aware the ISIS is extremely WIP and could easily be described as still in alpha, but you did ask for feedback and I rather like it so I thought it best to give my full first impression.

You do realize the EW drone interfacing skill gives you extra drone control range, right?

e: I do agree with you on the other points though. For example ragnorak requiring you to train all 4 sensor compensation skills to 5 is fairly funny when it doesnt affect the ship in the slightest. (Or it could just be a hint of titan changes to come :tinfoil:)

Sure, I realize it gives an extra 3km range, but I find cruisers either engage within standard 50km T2 scout drone range or off beyond the end of even the ~60km range that you get with maxed out skills. (Okay, I admit I'd forgotten about that part, but that's my justification for not having trained it to III yet.)

Now that you point it out, sensor compensation is a better example, actually, since it's obviously the same cert for all ships and three of the four skills are always going to be irrelevant.

Is it a T3 Shuttle ?

I was going to comment about this too, seems a little silly to have the MJD, AB, and MWD skills plus a rigging skill for a ship with no slots, but I understand that it is probably to much work (and side-stepping the whole point of the new system) to modify the cert for each ship. Still funny though.

For the pirates faction tree, can we get the prereqs of the trees removed? Take this for instance:

http://imgur.com/0Ad26I0

For the Gila, it shows both the Caldari cruisers (above) and the Gallente cruisers (below). Can those be removed. Also for the skill box for the ship, it takes the lowest of the two skills. Can both skills be displayed next to it? That is two boxes with the chevron stacked. The top would be for Caldari and the bottom for Gallente.

Please please please add the "both mouse buttons pressed" quick zoom to the ISIS screen. It works in space, hangar, map, .... everywhere. Not having it working in ISIS is a huge usability and consistency break in my book.

I have to concur with others here who are talking about the sensor compensation skills. Those and any others like them where a skill doesn't affect AT ALL the ship in question seems like they should be removed somehow if you can figure out a way to streamline it without losing the simplicity of the new system.

Second I would love to know what happened to the fancy shmancy version you put out at Fanfest. This version seems stylistically less impressive, but it could simply be that the other ones didn't perform well. It would just be nice to know why the sudden change.

Also while the ship flying in the background is an interesting idea it needs a lot of work both in how it's initiated and how the ships are represented. Right now it's neat, but visually distracting and I could easily see it becoming annoying with time.

I'm looking forward to the new iconography and tooltips finally being in place. This brings me up to another point. Now that we're getting these consistent tooltips can we get some consistency in presentation on how you represent what modules are allowed to be fit to a ship. Sometimes it's a role bonus; sometimes a special ability; sometimes it's in the description text only. Please pick a consistent text template for what special modules a ship is allowed to fit.

And speaking of fittings -- while this may not belong here -- can we either get the drone information moved into the fitting tab or the fitting information moved into the attributes tab under a fitting section and have the drone information moved there. It's weird that this one weapons system get treated so differently than the others. I think it's neat that it's different, but it could use some cleaning up. Special modules that the ship can fit could also neatly go into the fitting tab.

"Ship tree" window could use one same functionality as opening the map has: automatically minimize "Station Services" panel when docked. Otherwise it looks pretty cool Big smile

The interface is well organized and readable. It's a good progression from the old (under)used certificate system.

But...

"You do not hold the required certificates to be granted a mastery level for this ship"
Me...?
For Drake...?
Let me get that perfectly straight Pirate ... Me and Drake share a lot of history Cool... In fact, years of history and most of that was solo/small gang. I certainly did not need Warfare links on my Drake (nor I will need them in the future), so it's "a bit" strange to have it as a requirement for Level 1 Mastery. And it got "Armored Warfare Specialist" serious right from the start.

I've looked at a couple of more ships and they all have some nasty requirements which are not relevant for them, so I hope that SiSi now has just a showcase of the interface and that Mastery requirements are not final.

I like this feature a lot. Only critique I have is the backgrounds. I think each section could use their own unique pattern background that represents the faction through color/design. It would be better than simply using the nebulae, in my opinion.

A sad state when this is the request, rather than having space zoom operate like every other zoom, which I may mention hasn't even been an option in 10 years.

There are some very strange mastery V requirements, such as advanced targeting V for a cov-ops, please let me know the fit to get it to lock 12 targets...

Also seems MJD V is needed for every ship for mastery V.

OMG THE RATTLESNAKE FLEW BY, BEHIND ISIS !!!!!!!jpaofijwpgoijapwoigj om.f.g. you need to make that happen faster, it only happened for me after sitting for... 5 minutes?

......this ship tree... IT'S BEAUTIFUL. and tech-y.

I think it could be made more clear in the tree, that a ship is affected by two separate racial ship skills.

in this case, the Guristas tree--I think it's a little confusing at first, to glean that Caldari + Gallente = Guristas. Even while knowing what skills affect Guristas ships, I had a difficult time understanding why there were three lines of ships being displayed with [what appears to be] equal importance.

Guristas Ship Tree for those who cba

if you don't mind some visual feedback:
alternate tree
or
remove the frigate redundancy with grouping
and
clicking the ship square shuffles things around to make room for info within ISIS (just shoehorn it in place)
last image:
I think the lore should be visible from the basic view

make everything go bip and boop! and flashy bits on mouseover (and such).

ISIS as a skill planner?
My spider senses tell me I'm using a smart skill planning interface, and so I find myself expecting it. something I can drool over, and dream about piloting the ship one day, AND map out my skills to get there.

can I replace EVEMon with the client?

heck, can I replace pyfa with the client? why is applied DPS such an arithmetic mystery when I graduated from a school of warfare?

jEVE?

come to think of it, if there's a widely used third party program, isn't it a clear indicator that it would be useful in the client and something you could be managing?

why can't ISIS be a... Interbus EVErything Database? ISIS is more like a game and less like an OS

lastly, I love ISIS

edit: the mastery icons of I, II, and III are wayyy too easily confused with teck I, teck II, and teck III. stars, maybe? chevrons...

I cannot say I am overwhelmed by this feature. Yeah it's cool and may be helpful for newbies but personally I don't see much use for it. I mean it doesn't add anything to gameplay, it is "just" nice visualisation of ships hierarchy.

I think the Sansha carrier is missing as well.

Also on a side note: Will all the special editions appear in ISIS?

Special edition ships won't appear in there no, ISIS only shows ships that can be manufactured and acquired through regular means.

Surely the revenant isnt special edition? it can be manufactured by players and obtained by players independantly? Unless you are saying BPC drops are controlled by CCP?

ISIS is not opening for me when in CQ view. If I click on the blue arrow to enter hangar view, ISIS is available.

Drag-and-drop of items between windows (e.g.: Inventory window and Skill queue) while ISIS is open behind them will lead to the ISIS field panning with the mouse movement when the mouse is hovering over the ISIS field and not over any other UI windows.

Reproduction:

  1. purchase a skill that you can train but have not injected yet
  2. open ISIS
  3. open Inventory
  4. open Skill queue
  5. arrange the two front windows to be near each other but not touching, leaving "empty" space between them revealing the ISIS content
  6. drag the skill book from the inventory window to the skill queue
  7. --> as the mouse passes over the "empty" space between the inventory and skill queue windows the ISIS content will move.

This is happening with other things, and not just in ISIS. Someone else has reported (and I have confirmed) that dragging modules from one hotkey to another while in space causes the camera to move if you drag the module over an empty spot with no hotkey locations under it.
