Oooh I get it

In the future all hidden giveaways come with an NDA, that will prevent such scandal from occurring again

That's the lesson CCP learned from T20: they needed a CSM covered by NDAs to operate as a shield/damage control when they start favoring certain in game corporations over others.

I wonder if other players can even shoot these BlinkScorps, or if there is a hidden "fourth" level of safety that says "offensive actions against this ship are prohibited, because of NDA."

ACTUALLY, I think we finally have a good replacement for "because of Falcon . . ."

But equality does not seem to take the same form in acts of justice and in friendship; for in acts of justice what is equal in the primary sense is that which is in proportion to merit, while quantitative equality is secondary, but in friendship quantitative equality is primary and proportion to merit secondary. This becomes clear if there is a great interval in respect of virtue or vice or wealth or anything else between the parties; for then they are no longer friends, and do not even expect to be so. And this is most manifest in the case of the gods; for they surpass us most decisively in all good things.

Because of NDA

It's like a falcon jamming up the ability to transfer capacitor information.

Well next time they'll keep themselves safe with generous use the giveaway-NDA combo.

Oh right, it is every Eve player's god-given right to be presented with insider trading possibilities by CCP, how could I forget? Cause after all, what fun are gifts of favouritism really if you can't do a bit of insider trading with them?

I think I've seen much more sensible comments on the issue from Trebor and I believe mynnna. And while Ripard's first comment basically dismissing all opposers as jealous whiners was a bit insulting I've not fully given up on him yet. Malcanis on the other hand seems to be in full denial mode, ignoring all arguments and making up stranger justifications with every post. No idea what got into him, I usually agree with him on most stuff.

i know, malcanis' reply has shocked me. i, too, have usually agreed with most of what he has to say and as a person i like him.

i've not seen trebor's comments on the subject and all i've seen from mynnna is a tweet to funkybacon's comments on the subject (which are deffo worth reading).

would be nice if CCP were to say something, then again if they're going to follow suit it'll be something completely irrelevant that misses the point and they may as well not have bothered... sigh.

it's not beside the point.

your entire statement was basically "look at mittens, he's not normal because of what happened at fanfest" when in fact, what happened at fanfest wasn't abnormal at all.

I think the whole point of fanfest is go someplace remote and show your extreme excitement of this space game with all your space friends. In that environment excess of excitement and celebration should be expected. Fanfest is the only place I've ever been where a beer with breakfast seemed to make sense.

If you dissect the Mittani incident I think you could almost see it coming. The alliance panel is all about topping the other presenters. Darius had set a very high bar for outrageous presentations previously and lets face it, the goons all spawn from the something awful DNA pool. So drunken stupidity was almost certain.

My complaint would have been CCP had reviewed the slides previously and should have stepped in to make sure it didn't play out the way it did.

As for mittens, no one can deny he was very effective and bringing positive change to the CSM and to Eve in general. As for his banning from the CSM for that one term, that was I think the correct course of action (I had really looked forward to working with him so I was sad at that reality) but if he wanted to be back in the CSM I'd support him.

At this point I think he may have moved past that and has other things he'd rather do.

So I agree that nothing abnormal happened at fanfast, in fact it was very normal for fanfest!

He definitely created content! Maybe he should get an Ishukone Watch Scorpion. I'm sure he doesn't need it, either. I think a live demonstration of the pitfalls of binge drinking does more good for the community than encouraging and exploiting gambling addiction.

I have read much of what has been written here about the situation.

To me this whole situation is a non-issue. It doesn't compare with the T2 Scandal or even the recent problem with the TOS. This is a waste of people's time to even be upset about. CCP rewarded Somer for their contributions to our community.. whether you LIKE them or NOT. CCP rewarded us recently with a whole bunch of new toys like the Gnosis and stuff, and didn't consider my feelings at all whether or not I liked you all getting one. And the Gnosis is actually useful, not a glorified white elephant of a prize like the Ishukone Watch Scorpion.

This is not an issue.
This is not even bad.

Move along and get to some real problems and stop wasting rage or brain power on this.

I don't really buy that any more.

All the excuses given for this idiocy are applicable to T20 as well… except that the T20 hand-out was a lot less generous than this one.

Wait, what? So it's more scandalous to give out hangar queens that you have specifically announced you were going to give out for the reasons that you have, and whose (entirely hypothetical) ISK value will diminish as more and more are given out, than it is to hand out eternal ISK-printing machines that produce ships that people would actually want to purchase and fly (and lose, thereby assuring that the BPO is eternally lucrative)?

C'mon, you're better than that. These are not BPOs. They're not limited-edition ships like Gold Magnates. They're tokens that the recipients will occasionally Make Active and spin in their hangars. CCP doesn't have to make big public announcements about them because they're just not that big a deal. If anyone who has one wants to undock in a Scorpion, they'll pick up the vanilla model cheap, and then they'll have a more powerful ship that they won't sweat losing.
